Malawi Institute Of Journalism Admission Requirements

All candidates interested in pursuing a course at MIJ must apply. If applying for a certificate program, they must be holders of a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE), with strong English skills and an interest in writing and current events. On top of having a credit in English, they must also have at least 3 credits in any humanities subjects. Applicants have to enclose a copy of the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE)/notification of results or its equivalent.
Those interested in a Diploma program should be holders
of a tertiary qualification; either a certificate in journalism or a Degree or
Diploma from a recognized institution. Those with at least two years work
experience in the media or a media related field are also eligible for this
programme.

All students must register and pay fees at the
beginning of every semester. Registration and payment of fees are normally done
concurrently. Students who fail to register within the first two weeks are
subject to pay a fine and may be denied admission into the academic year.
