About Pentecostal Life University
Pentecostal Life University (PLU) is a private Christian University in the City of Lilongwe, Malawi. It is founded in 2013 by Pentecostal Life Church International (PLCI). PLU is a Christian institution of higher learning and is strictly governed by the principles of the Lord Jesus Christ designed for the intellectual, professional and personal developments of its students.
The University has started with five faculties:
Faculty of Commerce (School of Management);
Faculty of Media Studies (School of Media Studies);
Faculty of Social Science (School of Social Science);
Faculty of Postgraduate Studies (Postgraduate School of Business) and
Faculty of Biblical Studies (School of Ministry) which have 17 dominating and competitive programs at Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. levels backed up by highly qualified and experienced faculty members and curricular that is tailor made to the needs of this country.
However, it is envisaged that faculties will grow to other faculties such as architecture, information technology, education, law, among others later. As stated earlier PLU offers students a curriculum that is tailor made to the needs of this nation and is centered in its core values:Integrity and Professionalism, Good Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility, Diversity and Corporate Growth. It is envisaged that PLU will grow into an institution that would supply commercial information for the entire Country and the whole world. The success of the nation depends on the innovation and creativity of its people and if the country is to be able to afford its people a reasonable standard of living it will depend on institutions of higher learning which produce and distribute knowledge.
The existing Public Universities cannot alone produce all that is needed because demand exceeds supply in the University Education Provision in Malawi. This leads to the conclusion that there is a gap that does exist due to inadequate institutions of higher learning in the country. PLU is therefore complementing Government efforts to establish more Universities in the country with a view to help narrow that gap. In this era of Advanced Information Age and Globalization many organizations and businesses both public and private are facing challenges that demand people of caliber that should be able to institute, construct, change and cope with and manage the driving forces of change.
The world is looking for people who can strategically fit in the world of competition. Among other reasons PLU is established with a view that such people should be built into a cadre of expertise in which our country can reliably cope to help the development of this country hence the formidable team of Faculty Members to ensure the success of this University. We are so mindful that our contribution to this nation should be strategically fit into political, social and economic strategic vision of Malawi and we will be fighting as a University to strategically fit into the vision of this country and indeed the whole world.
From the foregoingit is envisaged that the PLU as a goodcitizen of Malawi will contribute towards economic and social growth of the countryin a number of ways. First, it will contribute to local leadership positions both in private and public sector. Second, it will help to engage in such university education, consultancy services, research andanalytical skills necessary to improve economic performance of our country. Lastly, it will help students to advance their careers and develop their professional involvement at higher levels of business management.
