William Pitcher College Application Form / Prospectus / Admission Requirement 2021/2022

William Pitcher College offers two teacher training programmes; Primary Teachers’ Diploma and Secondary Teachers Diploma.

How to apply:
Application is open to all qualifying candidates from January until 31st March each calendar year. Application forms are obtainable from the college reception or through the college website. Completed application forms with relevant documents are expected to be returned to the college on or before the 31st March after payment of an application fee indicated in the application form.

Primary Teacher’s Diploma

A three year course that  prepares trainees to teach all subjects taught at primary school level.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

1.01  A minimum of six passes at SGCSE examination or equivalent including English Language, three (3) of which must be credits in subjects taught in Primary Schools which are, Mathematics, SiSwati, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Physical Science, Combined Science, Integrated Science, Biology, Human and Social Biology, Home Economics, Food & Nutrition, Fashion & Fabrics, Agriculture, Religious Knowledge and English Literature. French, ICT, Life skills.

(Subjects that will not be recognized as falling into the category of those taught in the Primary Schools are Accounts, Commerce, Technical Drawing, Metal Work and Woodwork.)

OR

1.02 Primary Teachers’ Certificate plus a minimum of five (5) passes at SGCSE or equivalent  including English language, three (3) of which must be credits in subjects taught in primary schools as mentioned in Primary Schools as mentioned in 1.01.  These students will enter at Year 2 of the Diploma Programme.

1.03 Any other equivalent qualification approved by the Board of Affiliated Institutions,

1.04 Students, who have passed some courses in other Institutions of higher learning, may be exempted from taking those courses again.  

Secondary Teachers Diploma

1.01 A minimum of six (6) passes at SGCSE examination or equivalent including English Language, three (3) of which must be credits obtained in not more than two sittings. Of the three (3) credits, two shall be in the relevant teaching subjects as listed under Group B in regulation 2.03, forming the students approved majors.

OR

1.02 A Secondary Teachers Certificate plus at least two (2) years successful teaching experience. Such qualified candidates will enter the Diploma at second year level.

OR

1.03 A Primary Teachers Certificate pass at credit level plus at least three (3) 0 ‘Level credits in the relevant teaching subjects and a minimum of a pass in English Language and at least two (2) years teaching experience.
