FLYBE MULTI-CREW PILOT LICENCE (MPL) TRAINING PROGRAMME
flybeIn 2009 CAE Oxford Aviation Academy launched its inaugural Multi-Crew Pilot Licence (MPL) training programme with Europe’s largest and most successful regional airline Flybe.
This pioneering MPL programme was the first of its kind to be delivered in UK airspace and was designed from the outset to produce high quality First Officers able to move straight into the right hand seat of Flybe’s advanced Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 upon graduation.
The MPL First Officer Programme is a competency based course of training where the student is continuously assessed against a clearly defined set of competencies at each phase of training. Significantly, the MPL First Officer course incorporates airline specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and the concepts of Crew Resource Management (CRM) and Threat and Error Management (TEM) from a much earlier stage in training.
To date 12 MPL cadets have graduated from the programme and have embarked on their flying career with Flybe as Dash 8 Q400 First Officers.
