MISSION STATEMENT

“Gwamile VOCTIM Commercial Department’s main mission is to produce well qualified personnel at craft level in specific business, accounting and secretarial skills and thereby, contributing effectively towards meeting the country’s skilled manpower needs and to the educational delivery system in general”.
In particular our proposed goals and objectives are:

  • to produce well trained and skilled business and secretarial studies graduates who can readily fill various clerical and supervisory positions both in the public and private sectors.
  • to set high standards of excellence to ensure that VOCTIM graduates meet employers’ expected competency standards. to attract a high calibre teaching staff to ensure that standards of excellence are maintained.
  • to work closely with Swaziland’s industry, training institutions and authorities to ensure proper focus and direction of VOCTIM’s training activities. to research into present and future training needs to ensure that VOCTIM’s Commercial Department is responsible to the changing needs of the economy.

AFTER GOING THROUGH THE UNDERLYING TRAINING PROGRAMME THE ACCOUNTS CLERK IS QUALIFIED TO:

THEIR TASKS INVOLVE:

  • Computer Applications
  • Recording and accounting for cash transactions
  • Recording and accounting for credit transactions

  • Data Processing
  • Communicating for accounting
  • Monitor and maintain a healthy, safe and secure workplace
  • Create and maintain effective working relationship
  • Store, retrieve and supply information
  • Contribute to the effectiveness in the workplace

  • Record and bank moneys received
  • Make and record payments
  • Maintain petty cash record
  • Account for cash and bank transactions

Recording and accounting for credit transactions

  • Process document related to goods and services
  • Process documents related to goods and services received on credit

Recording Payroll transactions

  • Operate and maintain payroll accounting system

  • Assist and act as hostess at corporate functions, if necessary
  • Operation of switchboard  and taking of messages
  • Maintaining a diary
  • Sorting and distributing mail
  • Maintaining an up date filing system
  • Maintaining and utilising office equipment effectively
  • Adhere to company dress code
  • The candidate may perform the required duties to one or two people specifically

TRAINING PLAN
Job Title: Secretary / Office Assistant / Receptionist
Department:     Commercial Secretarial Studies Section

  1. Duration of Training
    Two Years  ( Institutional Training )
  2. Structure of Training
    The Curricula/syllabus is outlined according to knowledge, application and competence    throughout the teaching/training period of 2 years.  Taught in changeably both in classroom and  learning office. Hence, competency based training   is emphasized throughout the training period.   The training period includes a three week industrial attachment.
  3. Identification of Entry Level
    Junior Certificate
  4. Work Assessment
    Throughout the training program the trainees  practical and theoretical work is continuously   assessed in competency of office skills synthesized    and assessed in the learning office.

    In three levels of single subjects:
    Elementary
    Intermediate
    Advanced
    Examination Body: PITMAN.
