NUL Faculty of Law Academic Programmes

  1. UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMMES

LLB – 5 year program
Requirements: COSC or its equivalent in the 1st or 2nd class. Four credits including English Language. A minimum aggregate of 34 for the best six subjects passed. Any other qualification that may be approved by Senate of NUL on the advice of the Faculty of Law.
 
LLB – 2 year program
 
Requirements: A Bachelor of Arts (Law) degree of NUL or any equivalent degree approved by Senate of NUL on the advice of the Faculty of Law.
 
LLB – 3 year program
Requirements: Any Bachelor’s degree of NUL or equivalent from any institution recognized by NUL Senate on the advice of the Faculty of Law.

  1. POSTGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMMES

POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN LABOUR LAW (CONCILIATION AND ARBITRATION) – 1 YEAR
Requirements: Any Bachelor’s degree recognized by NUL Senate on the advice of the Faculty of Law. Candidates without a Bachelor’s degree will be awarded a Diploma in Labour Law, (Conciliation and Arbitration).
Career Opportunities: Conciliation, arbitration, legal advice, consultancy in Labour Law, Labour Relations and Alternative Dispute Resolution. The Directorate of Dispute Prevention and Resolution (DDPR) employs people who have qualified as Conciliators and Arbitrators from this programme. Human Resource Departments in the Private sector employ holders of this diploma as Labour Relations Advisors or Labour Specialists.

  1. MASTERS DEGREE PROGRAMMES

 
LLM MASTER’S DEGREE – 2 YEARS (under review)
Requirements: LLB degree in at least a Second Class, Second Division category with a minimum of 60% pass in a chosen field of specialization.
Career Opportunities: Legal practice, judicial office, prosecutorship, lecturing, conveyancing, notarial practice, legal consultancy, corporate legal advice etc.
