Before you apply

Start your online application

An online application to the Open University takes about 15-20 minutes to complete. You will have to create an account and apply. If you don’t have everything you need to finalise your application at that time, you can save it and come back to it later.

What happens after you have applied for a course?

  • You will have to pay an application fee either at the cash counter of the Finance Section or at any SBM bank.
  • Our Admission office will process your application and you will be asked to produce your original certificates.
  • If you are eligible for a course, you will receive an “Offer of seat” by mail where you will be provided a link to register for the modules you wish to take for this semester.
  • Upon registration of the modules, you will receive a voucher where you can effect payment either at the cash counter of the Finance Section or at any SBM bank.
  • When the Admission office has received the receipt of your payment of the modules, then you are finally a registered learner at the Open University.

 

Steps to apply for a course:

Step 1: Click on link “Apply Online” above
Step 2: Fill in the form, verify accuracy of all info and ‘Submit’ to send your form online. You may save a copy for reference. You will then receive an acknowledgement email containing your application code (please keep this code).
Step 3: Decide on your payment method and print the corresponding Payment Voucher to be used at Step 4.
Step 4: Payment of application fee. There are two options for payment:
PAY AT ANY SBM COUNTER
Pay Cash using SBM Cash Deposit Voucher
OR
Effect Bank Transfer using SBM Bank Transfer Voucher
PAY AT THE FINANCE COUNTER OF THE OPEN UNIVERSITY
Using the Application Fee Remittance Voucher, pay either Cash,
OR
By Banker’s Cheque drawn in favour of the Open University of Mauritius.
Step 5: Once you have paid your application fee, you are requested to bring the following documents to the Admission Office of OU at Réduit within one week of your application:

  1. A copy + the original of your birth certificate, marriage certificate (if any) and educational certificates
  2. A copy + original of your ID card
  3. Evidence of relevant work experience for Doctor of Business Administration, Commonwealth Executive Master of Business Administration and Commonwealth Executive Master of Public Administration
  4. Evidence of having paid the application fee (original receipt or SBM cash deposit voucher OR SBM bank transfer voucher)
  5. A copy + the original of a recent utility bill
  6. A synopsis of 1000 words from PhD applicants. Consult website for synopsis guidelines.
  7. Duly filled in exemption from, if eligible for exemption. Consult website for exemption form and exemption criteria.

​You will then be notified of the outcome of your application by email and sms.
If your application has been accepted, you will be required to register for FIRST SEMESTER modules and pay for the corresponding registration fees by the date specified in the offer.
