University of Technology How To Apply

Applying to study at UTS

If you belong to one of these groups, there is a different process to apply:

To start your application please carefully follow each step below:

Step 1: Select your course

Go to course preferences and select the undergraduate or postgraduate coursework course that you wish to study, and the teaching session you would like to commence study at UTS.
You may apply to UTS at any time. The closing date for applications for each teaching sessions is:

  • Autumn session (February/March start)
Applicants based outside Australia: 30 November
Applicants based in Australia: 15 December
  • Spring session (July start)
Applicants based outside Australia: 30 April
Applicants based in Australia: 31 May

Late applications will not be accepted. It is best to apply early to allow yourself plenty of time to organise your Australian student visa to study at UTS.
Important information about Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF)
UTS is an approved participant in the Australian Government’s Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF), introduced on 1 July 2016 by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).
The SSVF is designed to make the process of applying for a student visa simpler for genuine students.
All international students now apply for a single Student visa (subclass 500) (opens an external site) regardless of their chosen course of study. A single immigration risk framework will apply to all international students and all students will be required to lodge their visa application online by creating an ImmiAccount (opens an external site) on the DIBP website (opens an external site).
The online document checklist tool for Student visa (subclass 500) (opens an external site) advises students about the documentation they need to provide with their visa application.
Students must have sufficient funds according to DIBP’s Student visa financial capacity requirements (opens an external site) available for the duration of their stay in Australia.
Applicants must also meet the English language requirements to be granted a student visa.
Applicants must also meet all other core visa criteria.
These include:

There are two ways of submitting an UTS International application:

  • Option 1: Submit an online application

Select the course you wish to study from the course finder. On the course details page click the blue APPLY ONLINE button located under How to apply. Follow instructions to register and submit an online application directly to UTS International.
If you have already started your application using the UTS Online Application System, you can log onto it directly to complete your application.
UTS ONLINE APPLICATION SYSTEM

Hardcopy application forms must be completed using a black pen, with clear printing. You must sign your application form. Application forms signed by a UTS representative or by proxy will not be processed.
You need the Adobe Acrobat Reader (opens an external site) to view these PDF files.
Admission to UTS courses is competitive, the application is not an enrolment form, nor does it guarantee admission.
An incomplete application will result in delays in processing.

All applications require supporting documents to be submitted to UTS.
All documents submitted with this application become the property of UTS.
The actual support documentation required depends on the applicant, and the type of study they are applying to do.

  • academic transcript, include certified copies of your academic records
  • English language proficiency, include a certified copy of your English test score if available
  • if you are applying for credit recognition a completed application form

Please do not submit copies of your original work, as they may not be returned.
