William Pitcher College offers two teacher training programmes; Primary Teachers’ Diploma and Secondary Teachers Diploma.

The Primary Teachers’ Diploma is a three year programme that prepares trainees to teach all subjects taught at primary school level, i.e. Grade 1 to 7. Hence, trainees are taught subject content for all subjects taught at primary school level. During their second and third year of their study, they are given six weeks of supervised teaching practice in primary schools of their choice in convenient parts of the country. Details of the subjects taught are listed in the primary teachers diploma webpage.

The Secondary Teachers’ Diploma is also a three year programme that prepares teacher trainees to teach at secondary school level. Secondary Teacher Trainees choose major subjects from the following combinations; English and SiSwati, Maths and Science, Geography and History, and English and Religious Education. In addition to these combinations, trainees also take courses in Education, Academic Communication Skills, Music, and Physical Education. More information on the Secondary teachers’ diploma webpage.
