Master of Arts Degree in Economics (Non-Residential)

Applications are invited to pursue a two-year Programme in the Economics Department at Chancellor College leading to the award of Masters Degree in Economics by the University of Malawi. The Programme consists of two components; namely, a one-year taught course work in the first academic year followed by preparation of a thesis by the student in the second year.

The coursework is offered in two stages. In the first stage, the student must take five core courses while in the second stage the student will be required to take a course in Research Methods and two elective courses. Two modules will be intensively delivered in block-release form in a specified period of not more than three working weeks and these will be sequenced over a period of one year.

To qualify for admission an applicant should have a good bachelors degree from a recognized university majoring in Economics or closely related fields of study. And should have covered intermediate Microeconomics and Intermediate Macroeconomics, and Quantitative methods/econometrics with an average grade of 50 and above.

A complete application dossier must include the following: One letter of application, three original copies of completed application forms (University of Malawi PG1), curriculum vitae, two academic reference letters, copies of certificate(s), diplomas, and degrees, and one original copy of an academic transcript.
