Friday Jumbe quits politics for evangelism, farming

Former minister of Finance Friday Jumbe who contested in 2014 presidential race as candidate for New Labour Party has said he has decided to quit front-line politics and focus  on  things that will bring forth the greatest spiritual benefit to his life.

Jumbe ruled out contesting in 2019, saying his focus now is on evangelism and farming.
After the 2014 elections, government appointed Jumbe as CEO of the yet-to-be-established Malawi Development Bank. He was given a five-year contract to head the bank.
But he sued for  K584 million as compensation for ‘unfair dismissal’
In his 2015/16 National Budget Statement delivered in Parliament on Friday, Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development Goodall Gondwe said government has been consulting on the establishment of a development bank.
