LUANAR : Advert for the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dietetics

The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) under the Faculty of Food and Human Sciences is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to apply for admission to study for an 18 months Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics starting in October 2017.

Applicants must have or earn a Bachelor of Science with courses in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Anatomy & Physiology, Food Science, Food Service Management, Statistics, Nutrition Assessment and Human Nutrition prior to start of the programme. GPA must be greater than 2.65. A demonstrated passion for patient care through work or volunteer experience in a clinical setting is preferred.

The programme consists of two semesters of classroom learning followed by 1200 hours of supervised rotations at community and clinical establishments. Upon successful completion of the course and accreditation of the programme, the graduate will be eligible to register as a dietitian (RD) with the Medical Council of Malawi, which provides license to practice clinical nutrition in health care settings.

The University does not cover costs of living and transport. Students are required to make their own arrangements for travel, meals and accommodation during the practical rotations. The total cost of tuition and fees for the eighteen-month program is $6,800 USD or 4,800,000 MWK. Those who are accepted will be given the opportunity to compete for a scholarship.

Application Process
i. All applications MUST be accompanied with copies of certificates, letters of reference, application fee bank deposit receipts and academic transcripts.
ii. All applications MUST include a personal statement which describes how the candidate’s experiences have led to the desire and motivation to become a clinical dietitian (maximum of 500 words).
iii. Applicants are strictly required to DEPOSIT the application fees (non-refundable) to the following bank account:
