Beaney Scholarship in Pathology
The Beaney Scholarship in Pathology was established with a bequest from the late Dr James George Beaney, Doctor of Medicine.
The scholarship is awarded to students undertaking a graduate research degree in the Department of Pathology, School of Biomedical Sciences.

This scholarship is one of several trust-funded scholarships available through the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences for students who have applied for, or are enrolled in a graduate research degree of the faculty.
Benefits
The duration of the scholarship is up to 1 year. The scholarship provides a fortnightly allowance of approximately $7,000 per year (pro rata).
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
- be applying for or enrolled in a graduate research degree in the Department of Pathology, School of Biomedical Sciences.
- satisfy the faculty’s eligibility standards for course and scholarship.
Application
Future graduate research students of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences must complete an online application for course.
Students who are currently enrolled in the research degree for which they seek the scholarship must complete an online application for Graduate Research Scholarships. You are not required to list the trust scholarship(s) for which you are applying.
Recipients of trust funded scholarships are required to reapply annually (by 31 October) or their scholarship funding will cease.
Selection
The Head of the Department of Pathology recommends eligible applicants to the Faculty Research Training Committee. The committee will select the recipient based on academic merit and the terms of the trust.
Outcome
Successful candidates will be advised of the outcome of their application according to the Faculty’s published timelines.
