Agricultural Research and Extension Trust (ARET) is Malawi’s premier institution in tobacco research and technology dissemination. It is primarily concerned with development and disseminationof tobacco technologies, as its activities are sanctioned and funded by tobacco growers. ARET interacts with tobacco farmers and the farming business community in general in and through the following areas:
- Technology Research
- Extension Services
- Advisory Service
- Seed and seedling sales and information dissemination through special news and events
- Meetings & outreach seminars,
- On-farm farmer training courses and formal farmer training courses .

Mwimba College of Agriculture offers short term courses tailor-made to customer requirements. Course duration may range from 2 weeks to more on topics of customers choice. To date a number of key tobacco merchant companies have had their staff undergo training at MWICA and are appreciating the results.
