OPENING OF THE 2018/2019 ACADEMIC YEAR
Mzuzu University wishes to inform all its students, parents, guardians and the general public about the opening of the 2018/2019 Academic Year as follows:
Opening Date
All new candidates should report on campus on Monday, 15th October 2018 for orientation. Orientation will be conducted from Tuesday, 16th October 2018 to Friday, 19th October 2018. All candidates are required to attend the orientation.
Continuing students should report on Monday, 22nd October 2018.
Registration
Online registration for all students will be conducted from Monday, 22nd October 2018 to Friday, 26th October 2018.
Commencement of Classes
Classes will begin on Friday, 26th October 2018. Please note that only students who will have fulfilled the registration requirements shall be given the authority to attend classes and access other services.
Late Registration
Late registration fee of K2,000.00 per day for each day registered late will apply. In accordance with the standing regulations, students shall not be allowed to register after fourteen (14) days from the last official day of registration indicated above.
Payment of Fees
The fees should be paid in full at the beginning of the academic year or in two installments at the beginning of each semester, with the first installment being at least half of the full amount. The policy of the University is No fees No registration. Only those students who will have paid the fees will be allowed to register within the 14-day registration period.
All students are being informed that payment of fees should be made through the bank. The fees must be deposited into the following current account indicating their registration number, level and semester on the deposit slip when making the transactions:

After depositing the fees, students are required to present the bank deposit slip to the University Cashier during registration.
Please note that the University does not accept cash or cheque payments for fees. Parents, guardians, sponsors or students are being encouraged to pay fees in advance before the opening date to avoid inconveniences.
Candidates admitted into the Nursing and Midwifery Upgrading programme are advised to pay fees amounting to MK850,000.00 per academic year. The fees covers tuition and other additional requirements which are prescribed by the programme.
Outstanding Debts
Students who still owe fees to the University are encouraged to settle the debt before opening of the new academic year on 15th October 2018 failing which they will not be allowed to register.
Accommodation
A list of successful students who applied for on-campus accommodation will be published soon. On-campus accommodation will be accessible to students from Monday, 15th October 2018.
Off-Campus Accommodation
Students may obtain information about off-campus accommodation from the Office of the Dean of Students from 7:30am to 12:00 noon and 1:00pm to 4:30pm. Please note that any tenancy agreement or contract entered into is between the student and the landlord/landlady. The University shall not be party to such an agreement.
