University of Mauritius Pre-Registration Of Students On MPHIL, MPHIL/PHD, PHD Research Degree Programmes 2019

PRE-REGISTRATION OF STUDENTS ON MPHIL, MPHIL/PHD, PHD RESEARCH DEGREE PROGRAMMES
(ACADEMIC YEAR 2018/2019)

1.1 Prior to the submission of applications to the Admissions’ Office, prospective MPhil, MPhil/PhD and PhD applicants may opt to pre-register for the MPhil, MPhil/PhD and PhD programmes by submitting a pre-registration form online to the Admissions and Student Records Office through the potential Supervisor(s). Applicants may contact academic staff when choosing their research theme. During the pre-registration period, the candidate will be given access to the UoM Library and to online databases such as Science Direct and Emerald and will have to regularly meet his/her Supervisor(s), so as to prepare a proper
MPhil/PhD proposal (consult the “Guidelines for research proposals by prospective applicants for postgraduate research studies”).
1.2 Before filling the Pre-registration Form, applicants are advised to read carefully the “MPhil/PhD Regulations 2018/2019” available on the University of Mauritius website at the following address: http://www.uom.ac.mu/index.php/study-at-uom/regulations/mphil-phd 1.3 Applicants should submit Pre registration Form in duplicate together with two photocopies of their birth, educational and professional certificates. Married women should also submit a copy of their marriage certificate. Original certificates should NOT be submitted at the time of application for pre-registration but should be produced at pre-registration in case the applicant is selected. Please note that the photocopies of certificates submitted will not be returned.
(a) Admission to MPhil, MPhil/PhD, PhD Research Degrees At least a Second Class Honours degree in the relevant field or equivalent
(b) Admission to PhD There are two categories of candidates for admission:
(i) Students who are already registered for an MPhil programme at the University of Mauritius may request an upgrade.
(ii) Students may already have an MPhil research degree or equivalent in the relevant field.

There is no fee payable at the time of application for the pre-registration. However, upon pre-registration, successful applicants must pay a pre-registration fee of Rs2,000.

If offered pre-registration at the University of Mauritius, a person, at pre-registration, shall pay all required fees or produce written evidence of sponsorship by employer. The following should be submitted to the Admissions and Student Records Office, Prof Lim Fat Engineering Tower, University of Mauritius, Réduit:
Completed Pre-registration Form together with copies of academic qualifications through the potential supervisor(s).
Pre-registration for MPhil, MPhil/PhD or PhD – Application open throughout the Academic Year.
(a) Applications not submitted on prescribed forms will not be considered.
(b) Documents submitted will not be returned to applicants.
(c) Candidates will be required to pay the pre-registration fee upon receipt of a pre-registration
letter from the University.
