Ministry Of Education, Science And Technology Avert for Recruitment Of IPTE 15 Intake Of Primary School Teacher Trainees In the Public Teacher Training Colleges

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is inviting applications from interested and suitably qualified candidates to undergo a two-year Initial Primary Teacher Training course in the Public Training Colleges under I TE 15. The training will be done in a total of six terms within a training structure known as 2 IN, 2 OUT and 2 IN.

This means that the successful candidates will be in college for the first 2 terms, then in the following 2 terms out in Teaching Practice Schools and in college again in the last two terms of the training.

Conditions of the programme
Upon successful completion of the training, individuals will be awarded a Primary School Teachers Certificate and appointed to Grade L within the Malawi Government Teaching Service under Education Districts where they will be deployed to teach in rural primary schools.

Entry requirements
Interested applicants must possess a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE)I obtained in 201 6, 201 7 and 2018 with four credits which should include a credit in English and at least one of the following Science subjects: Agriculture, Additional Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Studies,
Home Economics, Physical Science and Science and Technology.

Age
The interested applicants should not be more than 35 years old.

Training allowance
The trainee teachers will be eligible to a monthly upkeep allowance which is currently at Twenty Thousand Malawi Kwacha (K20,000.00) during the two terms of teaching practice. However, this is subject to review by the government from time to time. The upkeep allowance will not be paid to trainee teachers during he holidays in between terms and when they will be waiting for the release of examination results at the end of the two — year training. No other allowances shall be paid to students during the two- year training period.

Tuition fees
Successful candidates will be required to pay a non- refundable financial contribution of K35, 000.00 per term when in college.

Application method, process and submission
Interested applicant meeting the stated entry requirements should express their interest to join the primary school teacher training course under IPTE 15 by:
Writing an application letter indicating their sex, age, and any relevant personal details.
ii. Depositing (before submitting the application letter) a non- refundable application and registration fee of two thousand Malawi kwacha (MK2,000) to the following New Building Society (NBS) account details:
Account Name DTED – IPTE
Account Number and type 13653798 – Savings
Branch Lilongwe

Keeping a copy of a stamped bank deposit slip which will be required during registration for interviews when they are shortlisted
Attaching a photocopy of their certificate and stamped original copy of the bank deposit slip to the application letter.

Please note that female candidates meeting the entry requirements are encouraged to apply and any application letters submitted without the necessary attachments will lead to automatic disqualification.
