ADMISSION BY NORMAL ENTRY INTO UNDERGRADUATE CONVENTIONAL ENTRY DEGREE PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2020/2021 ACADEMIC YEAR AUGUST INTAKE

NB: ALL PROGRAMMES AVAILABLE IN BOTH CONVENTIONAL AND BLOCK RELEASE (Weekend Class) FORMATS

Suitable candidates are invited to apply for the following GSU programmes of study for the 2020 August intake. Female candidates are encouraged to apply.

FACULTY OF LIFE SCIENCES
⦁    BACHELOR OF SCIENCE HONOURS DEGREE IN CROP SCIENCE
5 ‘O’ Level passes at grade C or better including English Language and Mathematics
2 ‘A’ Level passes in Biology or Agriculture and either of the following; Chemistry, Mathematics, Geography, Physics, Food Science.
SPECIAL ENTRY
5 ‘O’ Level passes at grade C or better including English Language, Science and Mathematics  AND
A Diploma in Agriculture or equivalent.

⦁    BACHELOR OF SCIENCE HONOURS DEGREE IN ANIMAL SCIENCE
5 ‘O’ Level passes at grade C or better including English Language and Mathematics
2 ‘A’ Level passes in Biology or Agriculture and any one of the following; Chemistry, Mathematics, Geography, Physics, Food Science.
SPECIAL ENTRY
5 ‘O’ Level passes at grade C or better including English Language, Science and Mathematics AND
A Diploma in Agriculture or equivalent.




FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND THE ENVIRONMENT

⦁    BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING HONOURS DEGREE IN GEOMATICS AND SURVEYING
Normal Entry:
 5 ‘O’ Level passes at grade C or better including English Language and Mathematics
 ‘A’ Level passes in Physics and Mathematics
Special Entry:
A person who has obtained a National Diploma in Geomatics and Surveying or equivalent with a minimum of at least two years post qualification experience.
Students who apply for admission under this regulation may be required to attend interviews and/or special tests at the University to determine their suitability for admission to the Bachelor’s degree studies

⦁    BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING HONOURS DEGREE IN MINING ENGINEERING
Entry Qualifications:  
5 ‘O’ Level passes at grade C or better including English Language and Mathematics
‘A’ Level passes in Physics and any one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Technical Graphics, Design and Technology.
Special Entry:
A person who has obtained a Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of two years post qualification experience.
Students who apply for admission under this regulation may be required to attend interviews and/or special tests at the University to determine their suitability for admission to the Bachelor’s degree studies.
⦁    BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING HONOURS DEGREE IN METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING
Entry Qualifications:  
5 ‘O’ Level passes at grade C or better including English Language and Mathematics
‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and any one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Geography

Special Entry:
A person who has obtained a Diploma in Metallurgy or Minerals Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of two years post qualification experience.
Students who apply for admission under this regulation may be required to attend interviews and/or special tests at the University to determine their suitability for admission to the Bachelor’s degree studies.

Mature Entry (For every Degree Programme mentioned above)
Persons who are at least 25 years of age on the first day of the academic year in which admission is sought and who are not eligible for entry under the Normal or Special Entry Regulations may apply for Mature Entry provided that;
Applicants must have passed at least 5 approved “O” level subjects including English Language and Mathematics (or equivalent) and must have demonstrated potential suitability for university studies by virtue of their attainments and/or relevant work experience.
Normally, applicants should have completed their full-time school or college education at least five years before the start of the academic year in which admission is sought.  
Students who apply for admission under this regulation may be required to attend interviews and/or special tests at the University to determine their suitability for admission to the Bachelor’s degree studies.
