Our regular academic programmes are in two semesters of 16weeks. The first semester usually begins in September and ends in December whilst the second semester runs from February to June. The School Of Languages (SOL)
This school has its headquarters in Accra and branches in Kumasi and Tamale. The following languages are taught at the Beginner, Intermediate, and Proficiency levels: Arabic, English, French, German, Russian, Portuguese and Spanish. The student spends four months at each level at the end of which a certificate is awarded. Special intensive courses are offered throughout the year for individuals and organizations to satisfy various languages and professional needs.
We also offer intensive vacation classes from mid-July to the end of August every year. The school has a flexible time-table to suit students who may have other obligations elsewhere.

Location:

The main campus is located Off Barnes Road, Adabraka, Accra, on the same premises as the University of Ghana, City Campus. In Accra, there is a second campus at East Legon close to the University of Professional Studies.
There are campuses at Tema; Kumasi, near the K-Poly, and Tamale on Education Ridge.

TThe School of Languages runs certificate courses in language proficiency in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) at the following levels:
• Beginner [A1; A2]
• Intermediate [B1; B2]
• Advanced [C1]

Duration of Courses

All the language programmes run three hours a day, five days a week for 14 weeks to give maximum proficiency.

Time Table

There are morning classes (9am to 12noon); afternoon classes (1pm to 4pm) and evening classes (5:30pm to 8:30pm)

2. Arabic Diploma

This is a special course for teachers of Arabic at the Basic and SHS levels.

3. BA (Arabic Education) in affiliation with Attadamoun French-Arabic University of Niger.

2. Special Course

The School of Languages organises special courses on demand for individuals, groups and corporate entities to suit their specific language needs and convenience.

Admission Requirements

Language proficiency programmes:

Proof of nationality:

a. Birth certificate or passport

b. Passport-size picture

Arabic Diploma:

a. Certificate in Arabic, PLUS

b. A pass in an entrance examination

c. A pass in an interview

BA (Arabic Education):

a. Passes in five subjects at the WASSCE plus Certificate in Arabic, OR

b. GIL Arabic Diploma or similar qualification, PLUS

c. A pass in an entrance examination

d. A pass in an interview

School of Bilingual Secretaryship (SOBS)

Location:

The SOBS is located at East Legon close to the University of Professional Studies. The Kumasi branch runs the bilingual secretaryship course too. The branch is located adjacent the Kumasi Polytechnic in Kumasi.

Courses

The HND (Bilingual Secretaryship) programme is run in affiliation with the National Board for Professional and Technical Examination (NABPTEX). The curriculum provides for high competence in office management skills in both English and French.

The School also runs the Diploma in Business Studies (DBS) course

Duration:

The HND course is a three-year programme.
The DBS course is a two-year programme.

Admission Requirements

I. West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE)

a. Credit passes (C5 or better) in 3 core subjects including Mathematics and English, PLUS

b. Credit passes in 3 elective subjects including French.

II. General Certificate of Education (GCE)

a. Credit passes in 5 subjects including English, French and Mathematics at the O-level, PLUS

b. Passes in French, Literature in English, and General Paper at the A-level.

III. Baccalaureate (Serie A)

The candidate must have a high average in English.

IV. Mature Entry

a. Mature applicants must be at least 25 years of age.

b. Applicants will be required to submit a letter indicating their employment status.

c. Candidates will be required to write and pass an entrance examination.

d. Candidates will be interviewed.

School of Translators (SOT)

Location:

The SOT is located at East Legon close to the University of Professional Studies.

Courses

The BA (Translation) course is run in affiliation with the University of Ghana.

Duration:

It is a four-year course. However, Anglophone students are required to undergo an additional one-year immersion in French in an approved Francophone country. Similarly, francophone students are required to undergo immersion in English.

b. Applicants will be required to submit a letter indicating their employment status.

c. Candidates will be required to write and pass an entrance examination.

d. Candidates will be interviewed.
