Admission policy and acceptance rate may vary by areas of study, degree level, student nationality or residence and other criteria. Please contact the appropriate ASUC’s Admission Office for detailed information on a specific admission selection policy and acceptance rate. We strictly follow the National Accreditation Board’s (NAB) admission policy and for that matter prospective students must contact the university to determine their acceptance into our undergraduate and graduate programmes ahead of time.

Guidelines to fill this form

1. All relevant documents supporting the application must be attached.

2. Supply all documentation in English. If your transcripts and/ or reference are not in English, official and independent translations which bear the signature/ stamp of the translator must be sent.

3. Attach two endorsed passport photographs to your application.

4. Check that all relevant portions of the form have been filled.

5. Please retain a copy of your entire application.

Admission Requirement

WASSCE/SSSCE/GBCE holders who have credit passes (A1-C6/A-D) in the following -Three (3) Core Subjects : English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science plus credits in Three Elective Subjects with an aggregate score of 36 or better for WASSCE/ 24 or better for SSSCE/ GBCE 6 credits.

Candidates who have written the May/June WASSCE Exams are eligible to apply as awaiting results applicants.

GCE A’ Level Applicants

Applicants must have passes in three (3) subjects in Business, General Arts or Science (at least one of which should be Grade D or better). Also applicants must have passes (Grade 6 or better) in five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Science (for non- Science students) and an Arts subject for Science students.

Other Applicants : Applicants holding stage 1 of ACCA, CIB, ICA, ICSA or CIM, Foundation I of Chartered Institute of Administration and Management Consultants (CIAMC)must in addition have six (6) credits at WASSCE and six (6) passes at SSSCE in three Core Subjects and three (3) Electives orfive (5) credits at “O” Level including English Language and Mathematics. Applicants in this category shall be admitted at Level 100.

Mature Requirement

Mature Applicants must have attained at least 25 years of age and have passes in five(5) subjects at SHS Level including English Language and Mathematics or credits in five(5) subjects at GCE Ordinary Level, including English Language and Mathematics.  In addition, candidates must have at least 2 years relevant and certified working experience and must pass an entrance examination conducted by the University College and also produce Birth Certificates. Successful applicants will subsequently be admitted at Level 100.

Foreign Applicant

Foreign / Expatriate Applicants with International Qualifications

Akim State College (University College) has room for Foreign or Expatriate Applicants and Ghanaian Applicants holding international qualifications. Their Admission Requirements shall be analogous with those of their Ghanaian (local) counterparts in all cases. This means that holders of foreign certified equivalents of SSSCE, WASSCE and G.C.E Advanced Level shall go through the same admission processes as applicable.

NON-TERTIARY ENTRY REQUIREMENTS :

Five (5) passes at WASSCE/SSSCE/GCBCE/’A’ LEVEL

Access course for Mature Students starts on 14th July to 28th August 2016.

Enterance Exams for Mature Applicants is on 31st August 2016

Regular and Weekend programmes are available for both Tertiary and Non-Tertiary Students.
