Admission Requirements:

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

I. SSCE – Applicant must obtain six (6) credit passes (A-D) in three (3) core subjects which must include English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science/Social studies and any three (3) relevant elective subjects.

II. WASSCE – Applicant must obtain six (6) credit passes (A1-C6) in three (3) core subjects which must include English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science/Social Studies and any three (3) relevant elective subjects.

III. GCE ‘A’ LEVEL – Applicant must obtain three (3) passes (at least Grade D) in relevant subjects in addition to five (5) credit passes (at least Grade 6) at GCE O’ Level which must include English Language, Mathematics, General Science / any Science subject.

IV. ABCE – Applicant must obtain three (3) passes (at least Grade D). V. HND – (2nd Class Lower) division or better with 2 years working experience. Applicants for Engineering would undertake a one-semester Bridging (Top-up) programme. Successful candidates will be admitted to Level 300.

DEPARTMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Engineering Programmes:

  • BSc Civil Engineering

Candidates applying to the programme must meet the following entry requirements:

WASSCE / SSSCE Candidates

Relevant credit passes shall include an Arts subject, plus three(3) relevant elective subjects

•Chemistry •Physics •Elective Mathematics

GCE ‘A’ LEVEL Holders

The three (3) A level subjects are Physics, Chemistry and Elective Mathematics

HND (Civil Engineering) Holders

Applicant must be a graduate in Civil Engineering

  • BSc Geomatic (Geodetic) Engineering

Candidates applying to the programme must meet the following entry requirements:

SSSCE Holders

Credit scores (aggregate D) or better in the following subjects: English Language, Integrated Science, Core Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Elective Mathematics.

WASSCE Holders

Credit scores (aggregate C6) or better in the following subjects: English Language, Integrated Science, Core Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Elective Mathematics.

Mature Applicants

Applicants in this category must meet the following requirements: •Must be at least 25 years old at the time of submitting the application
•Must have a minimum of three (3) years relevant experience in the intended field of study

•Must have credit scores in English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Additional Mathematics or Elective Mathematics

•Must pass an entrance examination or an interview

GCE ‘A’ LEVEL Holders

Must have GCE ‘A’ LEVEL passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

HND (Surveying) Holders

HND graduates with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience will be placed at Level 200 of the programme. However, applicants with 1st Class or 2nd Class Upper Division certificate and two (2) years relevant experience may opt for a top-up.

Top-up for HND Holders

Candidates who hold HND certificates (1st Class or 2nd class Upper Division) in Surveying and have a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience may be admitted to Level 300 as regular students, upon successful completion of one semester bridging course. Those work or business schedule cannot allow them to attend as regular students may opt for the non-regular student module. For such students, evening and/or weekend classes will be conducted at our Accra Lecture Halls.

  • BSc Construction Technology

Candidates applying to the programme must meet the following entry requirements:

SSSCE Holders

•Credit scores (aggregate D) or better in the following core subjects: English Language, Integrated Science, Mathematics and;

•Credit scores (aggregate D) or better in,

•Physics, Chemistry and Elective Mathematics; OR,

•Economics, Geography and Elective Mathematics; OR

•Technical Drawing, Building Construction and Elective Mathematics

WASSCE Holders

•Credit scores (aggregate C6) or better in English Language, Integrated Science, Core Mathematics; and,

•Credit scores (aggregate C6) or better in,

•Physics, Chemistry and Elective Mathematics; OR,

Mature Applicants

Construction Technician Certificate (CTC II/III)

Applicants in this category with a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience will be placed at Level 200 of the programme.

HND (Civil Engineering) Holders

HND graduates with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience will be placed at Level 200 of the programme. Applicants with 1st Class or 2nd Class Upper Division certificate and two (2) years relevant experience may opt for a top-up.

Top-up for HND Holders

Candidates who hold HND certificates (1st Class or 2nd Class- Upper Division) in Building Technology and have a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience may be admitted to Level 300 as regular students, upon successful completion of one semester bridging course.

  • BSc. Electrical/Electronics Engineering

Bridging Course

All applicants who hold HND Certificates, CTC I, II/III and have a minimum of two years relevant working experience may apply. Such applicants shall be placed on level 300 after successfully going through one semester Bridging program.

BSC. COMPUTER SCIENCE:

I. WASSCE: Six (6) credit passes (A1-C6) including English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and any three (3) relevant elective subjects. Candidates must have Physics or Elective Mathematics.

II. SSCE: Six (6) credit passes (A-D) including English, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science plus any three (3) relevant subjects. Candidates must have Physics or Elective Mathematics.

III. GCE ‘A’ Level: Applicants must obtain three (3) passes (at least grade D) in relevant subjects in addition to five (5) credit passes (at least grade 6) at GCE O’ Level which must include English Language, Mathematics, General Science / any Science Subject.

IV. HND: Holders in Computer Science, Electrical / Electronics Engineering and Information Technology may be admitted to level 300.

BACHELOR OF LAWS (LL.B) PROGRAMME

  •  4-Year LL.B Programme:

Candidates applying to the programme must meet the following entry requirements:

WASSCE/SSSCE

with a minimum of grade C6/D, aggregate 36 or 24 respectively. Credit Passes(A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects, including English Language and Mathematics plus three (3) relevant elective subjects.

  •  3-Year LL.B Programme:

Interested applicants have awarded a good first degree at least second class lower division from a recognized university.

Professional Qualifications: E.g. ACCA/CIM etc

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMMES:

Candidates applying to the Bachelor of Science programmes in the Faculty of Business Administration must meet the following departmental entry requirements:

I. WASSCE / SSCE: for all programmes in the Faculty of Business Administration, the departmental requirement for applicants must be three (3) core subjects.

GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION (GCE) ADVANCED LEVEL CANDIDATES: Passes in any three (3) “A” level subjects.

Also, the applicant must have had credit passes in five (5) GCE ordinary level subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Science Subject (For Non-Science students and an Arts Subject (for Science Students).

ADVANCED BUSINESS CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION (ABCE) CANDIDATES: Passes in three (3) subjects (at least one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have had credit passes in five (5) subjects including English, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE).

II. HND Graduates in the relevant business programme would be placed at level 300.

MATURE STUDENTS: Applicant must be at least 25 years old, should show proof of age with a birth certificate and any legitimate documentary proof of birth date which is at least 5 years old and pass Entrance Exams.

FACULTY OF HEALTH

  • BSc. Nursing

I. WASSCE: Six (6) credit passes (A1-C6) including English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and any three (3) relevant elective subject in General Science, General Arts or Home Economics with an overall aggregate of 36 or better.

Applicants with SSCE must hold a diploma in Nursing or Midwifery.

II. HOLDERS OF DIPLOMA IN NURSING from a recognized institution plus licensure examinations of the Nurses and Midwifery Council will be admitted to the third year. Candidates must also meet the minimum requirement for admission to tertiary institutions.

A Six (6) Weeks Access Course to the BSc. Nursing Programme Requirements: Holders of NAC/HAC Certificates from the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Enrolled Nurses: can gain admission to the six-week ACCESS programme.

  • BSc. Midwifery

WASSCE: an applicant with General Arts/General Science and Home Economics Subjects with a minimum of C6 in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and any 3 elective subjects with a minimum qualification of C6.

SSCE: an applicant with General Arts / General Science and Home Economics Subjects with a minimum of D in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and any 3 elective subjects with a minimum qualification of D.

Diploma holders: in Midwifery Certificates will be admitted to level 300.

RM: holders of Registered Midwifery Certificate will be admitted to level 200

RGN: holders of Registered General Nursing Certificates will be admitted to level 200

Matured applicant:

  • Passed KAAF University Access course
  • Be a NAP/Community Health Nurse certificate holder
  • A minimum of 3 years of working experience
  • Must be 25 years or more
  • BSc. Community Health Nursing

WASSCE: an applicant with General Arts/General Science and Home Economics Subjects with a minimum of C6 in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and any 3 elective subjects with a minimum qualification of C6.

SSCE: an applicant with General Arts/General Science and Home Economics Subjects with a minimum of D in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and any 3 elective subjects with a minimum qualification of D.

Diploma holders: in Community Health Nursing Certificates will be admitted to level 300.

RNAP: holders of Registered Nurse Assistant (Preventive) will be admitted to level 200
