Bindura University of Science Education Commencement and Reporting Date for 2020-2021 Academic Year

1. Preamble

1.1 The University wishes to inform all its new first year and returning students that the August-December 2020 semester shall commence on 31 August 2020 and end on 4 December 2020.

1.2 The safety and health of our students, staff and stakeholders remains the top priority of the University during this period characterised by a spike in cases of the COVID-19 pandemic. The University, therefore, urges its students, staff and stakeholders to be vigilant wherever they are, as we battle against the corona virus. Students, staff and stakeholders must continue to adhere to the World Health Organization (WHO) protocols as directed by the Ministry of Health and Child Care in combatting the COVID-19 virus.

1.3 In light of the above circumstances, there shall be NO face to face learning until advised by Government. All learning during this lockdown period shall be online through the Moodle and other digital platforms until further notice. Students shall be informed accordingly when face to face learning shall resume. Meanwhile all information concerning registration and access to data bundles can be accessed on the University website.

2. Online Classes

2.1 Online classes will be held as per regular class schedules and timetable.

2.2 Each student shall login to the University’s Moodle platform using their official BUSE email address and password.
2.3 Entry into the University’s campuses and premises during this time shall be strictly restricted

3. Online Orientation

Online Orientation shall be held from 26-28 August 2020 for new first year students.

4.1 To ensure smooth learning, all new students should pay their tuition fees in full and register. Online registration for new first years shall be done commencing 24-25 August 2020 whilst other returning students shall register once their results are published and as would be advised. The deadline for the semester registration is 30 September 2020.

4.2 No students shall be able allowed to continue with studies without satisfying the above conditions. Unregistered students shall not be allowed to access the University’s Moodle Platform. 4.3. Please note that the University’s Administrative Offices and the offices of the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Dean of Students, Deans of Faculties, Chairpersons of Department, Department Heads and Bursary shall be open. Students are advised to contact them, if need arises, through email, Whats App and by phoning.

4.4. All new and returning students should provide and update their telephone numbers and contact details with the University for ease of communication. Detailed information on registration, orientation, online classes, BUSE email addresses and safety and health of students and staff and any other information shall be accessed from the University website www.buse.ac.zw .
