Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the positions of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor in Sociology and Social Work.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Social Science or Bachelor of Education Degree with Credit majoring in Sociology and/or Social Work and Master’s degree or a Doctorate degree in Sociology and/or Social work from a recognised University. Those with teaching experience at a University or comparable institution will have an added advantage.
Applicants must have ability to teach various Sociology and Social work modules especially Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of Work & Industry, Entrepreneurship and Introduction to Social Work, Social Work Methods, Reflective Practice, Counselling, Communication Skills in Social Work Practice, Early Childhood Development and Child Protection. Candidates with some knowledge or qualification in an area of Gender Studies and/or Psychology will have an added advantage.
Duties
Successful candidates for these positions will be undertaking the following duties:
- Teaching, setting and timely marking of examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
- Conducting research in the area of specialization
- Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate student’s projects within the Department.
- Participating in all academic and professional activities of the Department
- Participating in community outreach activities
