University of Malawi College of Medicine Announce Graduation Ceremony for 2020

UNIVERSITY OF MALAWI FIRST CONGREGATION FOR 2020 GRADUANDS

PRESS RELEASE

The University of Malawi wishes to inform graduands and the general public that its first Congregation for 2020 will be held on Thursday, 10 th December, 2020 in the Great Hall at Chancellor College in Zomba from 7:30 a.m.
The University wishes to further inform the graduands and the general public that the University shall hold two streams of graduation ceremonies on the same day.
The first ceremony shall begin with the installation of His Excellency, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi as Chancellor of University of Malawi who will thereafter preside over the ceremony.
Graduands and the general public should note that His Excellency, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi will preside over the first stream of the ceremony in the morning while Professor Alfred Mtenje, Acting Vice – Chancellor of University of Malawi will preside over the second stream of the ceremony in the afternoon.

    GRADUATION ARRANGEMENTS
    Graduands and the general public should also note that due to the prescribed and gazetted Covid-19 regulations by Government, ONLY GRADUANDS shall be allowed into the Great Hall during both streams of the ceremony. The public should further note that parents and
    guardians SHALL NOT BE ALLOWED to physically witness the ceremony in the Great Hall instead virtual platforms shall be used for the general public to follow the ceremony.
    Dress rehearsals for the Congregation will be held on Wednesday, 9 th December, 2020 in the Great Hall at Chancellor College in Zomba from 8:00 am and 1:00pm for morning and afternoon sessions respectively. Graduands are required to come in their graduation
    attire while wearing their facemask and are asked to be punctual. Only those that attend rehearsals shall be allowed to graduate.
    Academic dress for the Congregation shall be available for hire from Wednesday 2 nd December, 2020 from graduands’ respective Colleges.
  72. The hiring charges for the graduation attire are as follows:

    (c) Masters Set: K30000
    (d) PhD Set:K40000

    All candidates must return their academic dress immediately after the graduation. Any unreturned academic dress shall attract a penalty fee of K5, 000 for the first day of delay and K2, 000 for each subsequent day of delay payable before the release of the certificate.
    Candidates who owe the College money shall not be allowed to graduate. Candidates who require photography services shall be informed about the details of accredited photographers during rehearsals.
    All photographers SHALL NOT BE ALLOWED entry into the Great Hall during the ceremony instead a specific designated place for photographers and other businesses has
    been arranged and everyone shall be required to pay to the Cashier on the day of rehearsals as follows:
    (a) outside the Great Hall :K10000
    (b) other businesses:k5000
