BREAKING NEWS: NPP To Introduce Another Allowance Package For Teachers In 2021
The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) before the just ended 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections won the hearts of many Ghanaian public school teachers and teacher trainees as they saw the payment of the anticipated Professional Teachers Allowance (PTA).
Many criticized the ruling government, specifically the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) criticized the ruling administration for paying the said allowance at the eleventh hour of the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. This according to the minority caucus was an example of vote-buying.
One can not exactly tell whether the new allowance is said to prove the NDC wrong or otherwise but according to Ghana’s Ministry Of Education report for 2021, teachers across the country will be enjoying a said allowance that is aimed at enhancing science education with funding from the United State’s USAID.
The allowance will be paid to every classroom teacher who receives his or her salary through the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD).
Unlike the Professional Teachers Allowance (PTA), this new science education allowance will be paid to classroom teachers only.
