The School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has organised an orientation session for first year students on Wednesday, 13th January, 2021. The orientation programme was designed to equip all freshmen with the knowledge and information needed to help them get on well with academic and social life on campus.

The Dean of SVM, Professor Benjamin Emikpe, in his address welcomed the students to the best University in Ghana and urged them to be resilient as Veterinary Medicine is a unique Programme and requires focus and zeal. ‘As future Doctors, you should aspire to make a difference’ he added.

Professor Emikpe advised them to also sharpen their entrepreneurial skills to become employers and not employees. He added that the only way to achieve this is to plan and focus on their studies, cooperate with their lecturers and avoid skipping lectures.

Mr. Joseph Agyeman, the Registrar of SVM enlightened the students on the guidelines of the school. He admonished them to avoid using their colleagues’ identification cards for other businesses that would tarnish their image.

Dr. Essel Cobbinah, the School’s Examination Officer, also engaged students on the procedures and rules governing examination in the school.

Also present at the programme were the Vice-Dean, Dr. Tony Opoku-Agyemang; Dr. (Mrs) Esther Amemor, Head of Department (HOD) of Clinical Studies; Professor Raph Folitse, HOD Pathobiology; and other faculty members.
