DELAY IN THE COMMENCEMNET OF THE UNDERGRADUATE 2020/2021 ACADEMIC YEAR (FACE TO FACE) FOLLOWING THE PRESIDENTIAL DECLARATION ON COVID-19 PANDEMIC

The University of Malawi, College of Medicine wishes to inform you that the College will delay in the commencement of face to face classes in the 2020/2021 Academic Year for undergraduate students. This follows Presidential directive to close all schools from 18th January, 2021 due to alarming increase of COVID 19 infections in the country. The academic year is therefore expected to start for face to face classes on 8th February 2021 subject to a positive assessment of the COVID 19 situation at that particular time.
Therefore, take note of the following:
(a) All students from Year 1 shall attend online classes through ERT from1st February, 2021 and shall be given further information regarding this.
(b) Registration shall be open from 1st February, 2021to 12th February, 2021 (online). Late registration shall attract a fee until the 5th March, 2021. Please be reminded that no fees no registration.
(c) Students who have any College debt shall not be allowed to register until the debt is cleared within the registration period.
(d) Students shall not be allowed to register after the registration period therefore any payment of fees outside this period shall not be accepted.
(e) Students shall not be allowed to stay on campus unless you are writing supplementary examinations which will begin on 25th January 2021 and shall be required to vacate the hostels after finishing their exams.
(f) All Foundation year students shall commence their academic year once the College reopens for face to face learning and registration shall be done upon their arrival.
(g) Upon arrival to face to face learning students granted accommodation shall be expected to pay the semester rentals in advance. No payment, no accommodation.
