SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH
The University of Zambia, School of Public Health and the Ministry of Health will be implementing a project “On the Provision of Services on the Implementation of Global Fund to HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Grants”.

JOB TITLE: ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER – 1POSITION
JOB PURPOSE: The University of Zambia, School of Public Health needs a high-level self- motivated Administrative Officer who can take a pro-active and leading role in grants management and in particular managing the HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Grants for a three-year period of the project.

REPORTS TO: The Research Coordinator (RC).
THE POST: This post is being established at UNZA School of Public Health (UNZA/SOPH) to enable research grants management. The post holder will be on fixed contract of one-year renewable subject to performance assessment and
availability of grant funds.

JOB PURPOSE: To assist in managing the HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria grant awarded to UNZA/SOPH and other grants related activities. The Administrative Officer will manage grant award and execution process, particularly financial aspects. To monitor adherence to UNZA/SOPH and the funder policies (MoH/Global Fund) and procedures for the management of awarded grants. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the broader development of grants management and financial management activities at the UNZA/SOPH.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The responsibilities of the post will include:
 Coordinate financial pre-award and post award processes
 Assisting with reviewing proposal documents to ensure consistency and accuracy between program descriptions, budget, and budget justifications
 Work closely with the Financial Officer at the University of Zambia to
manage project financial systems and processes
 Work closely with the University Bursar’s Office and the School Accountant to clarify policies, discuss problems, and propose solutions to the respective Project PIs
 Working closely with the PI to closely monitor overall program budget, commitments, and expenditures, and to prepare financial reports.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
 Knowledge of University of Zambia financial policies, procedures and systems.
 Minimum of four years’ experience in managing research grants particularly Global Fund and other donor or international related research grants.
 Demonstrate experience with financial reporting and monitoring of large amounts ofgrant funds.
 Demonstrate administrative skills including experience in maintaining calendars, scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings, making travel arrangements, and coordinating special events.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING
 Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Management
 Training and/or experience in managing grants is essential

JOB PURPOSE: The University of Zambia School of Public Health (UNZA/SOPH) needs a high-level self- motivated Research Coordinator who can take a pro-active and leading role in managing Global Fund research activities for a period of three years. He or she will lead the research team to the overall impact evaluation, including recruiting, training, and supervising field staff; designing data collection instruments and protocols; and leading data analysis and report writing. The Research Coordinator will coordinate the implementation of program’s M&E plans. The
Research Coordinator will also provide technical support and build capacity of project country teams at UNZA/SOPH.
REPORTS TO: The Dean
DIRECTLY SUPERVISES: The project staff

THE POST: This post is being established at the UNZA/SOPH exclusively for management of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria grant activities. The post holder will be on fixed contract of one-year renewable subject to performance
assessment and availability of grant funds.
Research Coordinator main tasks and responsibilities will include the following:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Lead the process of developing proposals in line with funded research activities
 Coordinate the process of securing research ethics approval and other relevant approvals
 Lead on ensuring data quality and validation of the overall project outputs
 Conduct data verification and quality control exercises and lead on improvement of data quality improvement
 Liaising with the program management team and PI as well as the program co- leads to strengthen capacity in the areas of data management, research and evaluation of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Grants at UNZA/SOPH.
 Coordinate writing and submission of research and quarterly reports to the PI, MoH and Global Fund
 Recruit and supervise research members in data collection or/and management.
 Contribute to strategic discussions on the HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria project and its progress
 Take a leading role in HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria project discussions, presentation of results and commemorations
 Work with other members of staff in School of Public Health in Global Fund Research activities
 Minimal participation in teaching and supervising postgraduate students
 Manage all project activities
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
 Should have published a minimum of two peer-reviewed publications in Public Health in a reputable international journal as first author
 A minimum of four years’ experience in managing or undertaking multisectorial public health research activities
 Fluency in written and spoken English.
 Excellent research, writing, coordination, problem solving, planning and organizing skills
 Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
 Experience of working closely with Ministries of Health and multiple

stakeholders
 Able to work effectively as part of a diverse team
 Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and negotiation skills
 Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methodologies
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
 Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent;
 Bachelors’ degree in Public Health, Education, or Social Science
 Master’s degree in Public Health
 PhD degree in Public Health
 Proven proficiency in statistical software such as STATA and SPSS
 A solid understanding of health systems strengthening, especially on
Zambia Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) and other
databases.

  1. JOB TITLE: STATISTICIAN- 1 POSITION
    JOB PURPOSE: The University of Zambia School of Public Health (UNZA/SOPH) needs a high-level self- motivated Statistician who can take a pro-active and leading role in the Global Fund HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria grants management activities for the three-year period of the project.
    REPORTS TO: The Research Coordinator
    THE POST: This post is being established at UNZA School Public Health (UNZA/SOPH) exclusively for management of quantitative activities. The post holder will be on a fixed contract of one-year renewable subject to performance assessment and availability of grant funds.
    JOB SCOPE: In consultation with the Research Coordinator, the PI and the whole project core team, the Statistician will develop data analysis plans for the studies, lead analysis process and ensure overall quality assurance, and timely completion of analysis process.
    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
     Develop quantitative analysis plans for the research proposals
     Support the team in securing research ethics approval and other relevant approvals
     Lead on ensuring quantitative data quality and validation of the overall project’s M&E environment.
     Lead in developing quantitative data collection tools, training the team in quantitative data collection, analyzing and writing quantitative research outputs.
