The National Teaching Council (NTC) has called on stakeholders and the general public to make suggestions for consideration as part of efforts to introduce Teacher Licensure Examination reforms into the current method used to examine teachers for their professional certification and license.
The NTC believes such proposals will help make sure the Ghana teacher licensure examination (GTLE) is better administered.
“After three years of implementing the GTLE, there is a need to evaluate it against its original purpose, identify emerging challenges, lessons learned and make recommendations for improvement,” NTC stated in a blog post sighted by Ghanaeducation.org.
The council has set July 12, 2021, as the closing date for the submission of the application /suggestions /proposals for consideration. Those who make suggestions worth the reformation of the Ghana teacher licensure examination (GTLE) will be contacted for further deliberations.Advertisements
Successful Teacher Licensure Examination Reforms will help improve the conduct of the examination and deal with current bottlenecks and future challenges expected.
The examination since its inception in 2018 has aimed at identifying suitable candidates (teachers) qualified who are worthy of a professional certificate and awarding them as well.
The professional license, as indicated by NTC, is the highest mark of professional accomplishment that makes a Ghanaian teacher a member of the larger network of standing educators shaping the profession and human lives.
The NTC has indicated the acceptability of the teacher professional license issued by its outfit by the African Federation of Teachers. Its acceptability means the professional Ghanaian teacher can use the certificate to secure a job in other parts of Africa.
Teachers and all stakeholders of education (individuals and institutions) are encouraged to make inputs to help introduce effective and efficient reforms for a better way of administering the examination.
