William Pitcher College Admission for Primary and Secondary Teachers’ Diploma Programme

Applications for admission  to William Pitcher College for the 2021/2022 academic year will be opened from 15 February 2021 to 31 March 2021. The college offers Primary and Secondary Teachers’ Diploma programme. This is a three year post O’level/IGCSE/SGCSE/EGCSE course for teaching at primary and secondary school level. William Pitcher College is affiliated to the University of Eswatini and all its programmes are moderated and approved by the university. Hence, it is the University of Eswatini that awards the diplomas to the graduates of the college. The programme of training comprises the following groups of subjects:

  1. GROUP A – Professional Studies.  The core courses are Teaching Practice, Education and Special and Inclusive Education.
  2. GROUP B – The required courses shall be drawn from English/Siswati, Mathematics/Science, Geography/History, English/Religious Studies, English French, French/Siswati, ICT/Mathematics, ICT/Science, English/Geography or other combinations approved by the BAI.
  3. GROUP C – This is a required course – Academic Communicstion Skills.
  4. GROUP D – General education courses like Music, Physical Education, Computer Technology Skills (CTS) and Psychosocial Support.

Overall Entry Requirements

A minimum of six (6) passes at SGCSE examination or equivalent including English Language, three (3) of which must be credits. Of the three (3) credits, two shall be in the relevant teaching subjects as listed under Group B in regulation  3.01.2, forming the students approved majors. 

A Secondary Teachers Certificate plus at least two (2) years successful teaching experience. Such qualified candidates may enter the Diploma at second year level.

A Primary Teachers Certificate pass at credit level plus at least three (3) O ‘Level credits in the relevant teaching subjects and a minimum of a pass in English Language and at least two (2) years teaching experience.

Any other equivalent qualification approved by the Board of Affiliated Institutions.

Students who have passed some courses in other Institutions of higher learning, may be exempted from taking those courses again.

The following will be required in order to process the application:   

  1. PAYMENT RECEIPT – All new applicants are expected to pay the application fee at the revenue where they will get a receipt which must be uploaded on the portal during application. Visit the nearest Government revenue offices to pay. 
  2. CERTIFICATE – Applicants should upload their school leaving certificate as part of the requirements for admission in the college. These should be in pdf format in order for the documents to be readable.
  3. NATIONAL ID – Attach a copy of your national ID in pdf format, otherwise your application will be considered as incomplete.
