University of Eswatini Mature Age Entry Admission

MATURE AGE ENTRY 2022/2023
Applications are invited from candidates who meet the requirements outlined below to sit an
examination to qualify for admission to any of the University’s undergraduate programmes of
study.
REQUIREMENTS

A candidate must be at least 22 years or older (born on or before 10th August, 2000) on the
first day (10th August, 2022) of the University Academic year in which admission is sought.
(A copy of birth certificate or National Identity card is required when submitting an
application)
(b) A candidate should have completed SGCSE/IGCSE or equivalent with a pass in four (4)
subjects.
(c) No candidate who has previously attended at the University may be re-admitted to the University under these regulations to a programme in which he/she has previously been
unsuccessful during the previous attendance, unless he/she produces evidence of further study
satisfactory to theUniversity.
(d) If, in the opinion of the University, a candidate has complied successfully with conditions (a) to (c) above, he/she will be required to sit a Special Entrance examination which will consist of a general paper and a special paper in the candidate’s intended field ofstudy.
(i) A candidate applying for Commerce-related programmes and or Specialisation
(B.Com and B.Ed. Sec. (Business Studies), the special paper will be a combination of Business Mathematics, Accounting and Business Studies.
(ii) A candidate applying for Science-related programmes and or specialisation (all Faculties of Agriculture and Consumer Science programmes, all Faculty of Health Sciences programmes, all Faculty of Science & Engineering programmes, B.Ed. Sec.
(Science), the special paper will be a combination of Science and Mathematics.

(iii) A candidate applying for all other programmes not listed in (i) and (ii) above, the
Special paper will be the Aptitude Test.
(e) A candidate will be recommended to the Admissions Committee, having satisfied all the MAE
conditions and having passed the special papers for the intended programme(s).
MATURE AGE ENTRY TRAINING PROGRAMME
Offered by the Institute Of Distance Education (IDE)
The University of Eswatini has introduced a short-term Mature Age Entry-Pre-Entry Training
Programme for the candidates who wish to be admitted to the University programmes through Mature
Age Entry (MAE) Examination. The training will give the applicants an overview of the examination
papers that they wish to write. It will enhance the applicants’ performance in the MAE examination.
Further the candidates will be provided with course manuals which facilitate them to prepare the MAE
examination during and after the training without any difficulty.
The MAE training programme covers the following 5 subject papers:
a) English Language
b) Mathematics
c) Combined Science
d) Combined Commerce
e) Aptitude Test
Application for Training
 Please indicate by ticking whether you want to join the training or not in the Mature Age
Entry Application Form.
 Please pay the Required fee for the Training when you pay for your application
 Please register for the training when you submit your application online.
 Ensure that you have selected all the subjects you wish to take for the Mature Age Entry Pre
Entry Training Programme.
 Please bring your proof of payment when you come for training so that you can use it to
collect your manuals at UNESWA. The date for the collection of training manual will be
before the training commences from the 9th April 2022.

Duration for the Training

  1. Six hours for face to face session for each subject at the University ofEswatini
  2. At least 1 month for individual work for preparation
    Dates of Training are as follows:
    April 9
    th, 10th, 23rd, 24th, 30th
    , May 7
    th, 8th, and 14th 2022.
    Individual practice: March 28th until the examination date.
    Examination: April 2022 (date to be announced)

    Costs for Training
    Training for each subject will cost E280.00. Please note that the training is not compulsory. You have
    to indicate on the application form and through payment that you wish to take the training. In the table
    below, the papers for each stream are shown, but it does not mean you have to take the training for all
    the subjects. The training is optional, and you have to decide which subject(s) you wish to take. It is
    not compulsory for you to opt for everything – your needs will guide you. The table given below gives
    you an idea on which papers you will write for each programme.
