Open University of Mauritius New Programmes Intake for July and August

Step 1: Access online application link on https://www.open.ac.mu by clicking on Enrol Now.

Step 2: Fill in the form. Verify accuracy of all information and click on ‘Submit’ to send your form online. You may save a copy for reference. You will then receive an acknowledgment email containing your application code. Please keep this code handy as you will be using it during the application process.

Step 3: Payment of fees as mentioned on the voucher will have to be effected through bank transfer.

  • Application Fees (non-refundable) for SADC & IORA citizens: Rs 1,000
  • Application fees for International applicants (non-SADC, non-IORA): USD 40 (non-refundable)

Step 4: Once you have paid your Application Fee, you need to email the scanned version of the following documents with certified true copy mentioned by relevant authorities to  applicationdoc@open.ac.mu 

  • Birth Certificate.
  • Marriage Certificate (if applicable).
  • Your personal data page of your passport.
  • Academic qualifications as per entry requirements of the chosen programme. Please note that the onus is on the applicant to submit equivalence of educational qualification.
  • Submission of documents by applicants( in process)
  • Evidence of work experience (minimum of 2 years post degree qualification) for Commonwealth Executive Master Business Administration, Commonwealth
    Executive Master of Public Administration and Doctor of Business Administration)
  • Evidence of having paid the Application Fee.
  • Applicants of PhD will have to submit a synopsis of 1,000 words. For details, consult our website on synopsis guidelines.

You will then be notified of your application by email. If your application has been
accepted, you will be required to register on the first semester modules, pay the relevant
fees by the date specified in the offer of seat mail and forward the payment evidence to
the Admissions Office.

Tuition Fees, which are a component of Module Fees, are being waived for learners satisfying criteria for exemption from payment of same. Consequently, these learners are required to pay only an Administrative Fee. However, they will be required to pay Resit Fees and other fees as and when required.

In light of the above, the Open University of Mauritius is hereunder providing detailed information on fees payable by all learners.

(i)  FEES FOR UNDERGRADUATE CERTIFICATE/DIPLOMA/DEGREE PROGRAMMES FOR LEARNERS WHO ARE ELIGIBLE FOR EXEMPTION FROM TUITION FEES

ADMINISTRATIVE FEE 
(To be paid every semester)

Candidates who do not have any university qualification but satisfy the entry requirements on a University Certificate, Diploma or Degree programme are eligible for exemption from Tuition Fees.

Candidates holding a university qualification at Certificate level will be exempted from payment of Tuition Fees only on a Diploma or Degree level programme and those holding a Diploma will be exempted from payment of Tuition Fees when they enrol on a degree programme.

Learners who are eligible for exemption from payment of Tuition Fees on an undergraduate programme (Certificate/Diploma and Undergraduate degree) are required to pay an Administrative Fee only on enrolment.

  • The Administrative Fee payable is as follows: Rs 5,000 every semester – applicable for new learners enrolled as from Jan 2021 intake.  Existing learners: the administrative fee per semester remain unchanged.
  • From semester 2 onwards, learners have to pay an Administrative Fee plus applicable Resit Fees/Dissertation Resubmission Fees (in case a learner has to take resit/s or fails in dissertation) during their enrolment on the programme.
  • For applicable Resit/Dissertation Resubmission Fees, please refer to Sections 5(iii) and 5(iv) below.
  • Other fees as mentioned under Section 5 below are payable as and when required, as per existing practice.

(ii)  MODULE FEES FOR LEARNERS WHO ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR EXEMPTION FROM TUITION FEES (To be paid every semester)

  • All new and ongoing learners enrolled on an undergraduate programme who are already holders of a University Certificate/Diploma/Degree are not eligible for exemption from payment of Tuition Fees for registration on a programme at equivalent level.
  • Learners who are not eligible for exemption from Tuition Fees are required to pay the applicable Module Fee and Resit Fees if any as per existing practice.
  • The respective Module Fees for each programme are specified on the OU website on the following link: https://www.open.ac.mu/undergraduate-fees-3.
  • For applicable Resit Fees, please refer to Sections 5(iii) and 5 (iv) below.
  • Other fees as mentioned under Section 5 below are payable as and when required, as per existing practice.

2. FEES FOR FOUNDATION PROGRAMMES (To be paid every semester)

All learners enrolled on a Foundation programme are required to pay applicable Module Fees. In case they have resits, they will be required to pay for the applicable Resit Fees as per existing practice.

3. FEES FOR EMPLOYABILITY PROGRAMMES (To be paid every semester)

All learners enrolled on Employability programmes are required to pay applicable Module Fees and Resit Fees (if any), as per existing practice. The Module Fees for Employability programmes are available on the OU website on the following link:- https://www.open.ac.mu/employability-fees-2

Other fees as mentioned under Section 5 below are payable as and when required, as per existing practice.

4. FEES FOR POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

All learners enrolled on a postgraduate programme are required to pay Module Fees and other fees as and when required.

(i) TAUGHT POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES MODULE FEES (To be paid every semester)
The details of respective Module Fees for each programme are available on the OU website on the following link:- https://www.open.ac.mu/master-fees/

Learners will also be required to pay for any resit or resubmission of dissertation they may have during their course of study as per existing practice.
The applicable Resit/Resubmission of Dissertation Fees are specified at Sections 5(iii) and 5(iv) below.
Other fees as mentioned under Section 5 below are payable as and when required, as per existing practice.

(ii) POSTGRADUATE RESEARCH PROGRAMMES FEES (To be paid every semester/year)

Module Fees are payable for learners enrolling for PhD and DBA programmes in year 1 every semester and every year as from year 2.

Other fees as mentioned under Section 5 below are payable as and when required, as per existing practice.

5. OTHER FEES

(i) APPLICATION FEES FOR ALL PROGRAMMES (To be paid once when applying by all learners)

A fee amounting to Rs 1000 is payable only once when prospective learners submit an application for enrolment on a programme of study. This is a non-refundable fee.

(ii) EXEMPTION FEES FOR ALL PROGRAMMES (To be paid once for exemption)

Exemptions from modules may be requested at the start of the programme in year 1 and the fees applicable are as follows:
For learners exempted from payment of Tuition Fees: Rs 2,500 per module

For all other learners: Rs 2,500 plus Module Fees as applicable per module

(iii) RESIT FEES PER MODULE (To be paid when a learner has to take resit module/s after failure)

In case a learner fails in examination or assignment or both in any module, the following fees are applicable:

  • Exam Resit:                                   Rs 2,500
  • Assignment Resubmission:        Rs 1,000
  • Retake of Whole Module:           Module fee as applicable *
  • Special Examination Fee**:       Rs 15,000
  • Special Assignment Fee**:         Rs 3,000

** Special Examination/Assignment is set for modules which are not phased out but are not on offer in a particular semester.

(iv) FEES FOR RESUBMISSION OF DISSERTATION (To be paid for resubmission of dissertation)
In case a learner fails in Dissertation, the following fees are payable for resubmission of new Dissertation with new title:
Module Fee for Dissertation: Please refer to OU website “Fees” menu for information on Module Fee for Dissertation for respective programmes.

(v) SPECIAL SELF-STUDY MODULE FEE (Payable in lieu of Module Fees for a module which has been phased out)
Learners who make a request to register for a module which has been phased out either the first time or as a resit and for which no normal tutorials and examinations are held may be allowed to take the module as Special Self-Study. For such modules, a few tutorials will be organised and learners will be required to submit assignment/s and sit for examinations, subject to payment of the following fees:

  • Undergraduate Programmes: Rs 20,000
  • Postgraduate Programmes:    Rs 25,000

(vi) GRADUATION CEREMONY FEE (To be paid once for attending graduation ceremony)
All learners who attend Graduation Ceremony should pay the following fees: Rs 3,000 (Rs 2,000 refundable)

(vii) FEES FOR REQUEST FOR TESTIMONIAL: Rs 250 per copy of testimonial

(viii) FEES FOR RE-ISSUE OF TRANSCRIPT: Rs 2,000 (First issue is free.)

(ix) FEES FOR RE-ISSUE OF CERTIFICATES: Rs 5,000 (First issue is free.)

(x) FEES FOR APPEAL AGAINST DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE DECISION
Learners may submit an appeal against decision of Disciplinary Committee subject to payment of Rs 5,000.

(xi) FEES FOR REVIEW OF EXAM RESULTS
Learners may submit an application to review examination results for which an amount of Rs 3,000 per module is payable. In case the review is successful, the review fees are refundable.
