Choice of courses should be made in order of preference.

Documents to be sent by mail on admission@udm.ac.mu for verification of eligibility for courses applied

All documents should be either in English or French.

  • Application form filled-in
  • A copy of the HSC/BAC certificate or equivalent for BSc courses and copies of final year transcripts
  • A copy of birth certificate (certified copy)
  • A copy of bio-data page of student passport (the passport should be valid beyond the period of stay in Mauritius).
  • A copy of actual visa/resident permit if student is staying in Mauritius
  • A document certifying knowledge in French or English depending on choice of courses
  • Other relevant documents if any.
  • A scan copy Bank statement (for 3 recent months which should not be less than 150 000 Mauritian rupees) of guardian/ person in charge of the student along with a testimonial from the parents/guardian/sponsor certifying who will be responsible for payment of the registration fees specifying the full name, relationship with student, address, contact number and e-mail address) and other details if any.
  • $ 25 application to be paid at the time of registration in Mauritius.

  • Student visa

VERY IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Student should submit all relevant documents to the university immediately after receipt of admission letter. The University will apply for the student visa on behalf of the student only after receipt of all necessary documents from the student (original and copies). Instructions set by the Passport and Immigration Office should strictly be followed by students, failing which the visa will not be issued.
  • Student should in no way travel to Mauritius before being issued the student visa.
  • A provisional visa valid for 3 months (which will be sent by mail) will be issued to the student to enable him to travel to Mauritius
  • Within one month after entering Mauritius, student should undergo some medical examinations as stipulated on the student visa. Original medical results should then be submitted to the admission office, Rose-Hill campus of the University for application of student visa which will be valid for duration of the whole course.
  • Any student who has not been issued a student visa will not be allowed to follow courses at the university.
  • If student wishes to continue further courses at the university, a request for renewal of visa should be submitted by the student.
  • Any change of address should be communicated to the university who will inform the Passport and Immigration Office.
  • Any student from another university in Mauritius cannot start course at the Université des Mascareignes whilst being under student visa from another university. According to the rules and regulations of the Immigration office in Mauritius, however student who wishes for a transfer of university should submit the following documents:
  • A no objection letter from existing University
  • All documents needed to apply for a new visa.

Note: It will depend on the PIO whether or not to issue the visa. In some cases student may be requested to go back to his country and make a fresh application.Student should then wait for the visa in his country. Once the student visa is issued, student can then travel to Mauritius.

Documents to be submitted to the University for Application for student visa:

  • The application form for entry in Mauritius duly filled and signed by the student (available on the web site)
  • A certified copy of the student’s birth certificate
  • Four recent passport sized photos of the student ( Dimension: 4.5 cm* 5.5 cm )
  • Documentary evidence of availability of fund.
  • Last 3 months original bank statement of the guardian who will be funding student. The amount should be indicated in USD/EURO/Mauritian Rupee. The bank statement should bear the original signature and original seal of the bank, failing which application for visa cannot be entertained (there should be at least a minimum of 150,000 Mauritian rupees).
  • A testimonial from the parents/guardian/sponsor certifying who will be responsible for payment of the registration fees specifying the full name, relationship with student, address, contact number and e-mail address) and other details if any.
  • In case of student has been awarded a scholarship, documentary evidence should be produced by the awarding body.

Copies of documents to be sent by mail on admission @udm.ac.mu:

  • Acceptance letter signed by the student certify that he/she has accepted the course offered (specifying details of the course).
  • Accommodation details in Mauritius
  • A letter signed by the landlord certifying that his house/building will be rented to the student and clearly mention with his personal details: (residential address,  full name and phone number)
  • A proof of residence of the landlord (copy of utility bill; example: CEB, CWA or Telecom)
  • A copy of the National Identity card of the landlord
  • If the landlord is a foreigner, he should submit a copy of his residence permit and a copy of the lease of the building (contract signed by him and the landlord) as well a copy of National Identity card of the tenant.
  • A copy of the admission letter from the University.

Note: Once the student has been issued an admission letter for a particular course, no request for change of course will be accepted.

  • Accommodation
  • It is the student’s responsibility to look for accommodation according to his budget.
  • All accommodation costs are borne by the student
  • Documents related to accommodation should then be sent to the University for Application of student visa.
  • However, on request of students, contacts of some landlords can be sent to them in order to help them to find a house/room.
  • Student should contact his landlord to arrange to receive him from the airport. All costs will be borne by the student.
  • Any change of address should be communicated to the university.
  • Mauritius/Africa scholarship

The Mauritius/Africa scholarship is awarded by the Mauritian government to student from African countries. Application for the scholarship and all other related documents should be submitted directly to the ministry. The official web site for the scholarship is: http://ministry-education.govmu.org

Students who apply for the scholarship should inform the university. Students who have not been awarded the scholarship should pay normal university fees. However, students awaiting for the scholarship should wait for the final award of scholarship before travelling to Mauritius.

Deadline for applications is 30 April 2019 for local students and to 15 April 2019 for international students.
