Prison officer who killed two sons tells yet to be tried – On bail

Lawyer Lusungu Gondwe representing a senior prison officer who gunned down his two sons—in an incident that shocked the nation on April 10 in Blantyre— says they are waiting for State to set out a date of hearing.

Chisi: On bail

Evance Chisi, who was station officer at Chichiri Prison, claims he was caught in an emotional turbulence that made him lose his temper after the sons reportedly attacked and threatened to kill him.
He was granted bail but remains on interdiction.
Gondwe said the State is yet to come up with a day for hearing of the case.
“There is not even a charge sheet. Since committal of Mr Chisi to the Hogh Court, there has been no movement at all,” Gondwe is quoted in The Nation newspaper of Tuesday August 23.
Director of Public Prosecution, Mary Kachale, could not immediately comment on when Chisi will get his justice.
Chisi, who said he regretted his actions, described his deceased  sons as “destructive” boys who could do anything to raise money for alcohol and chamba.
