Collaborative Master of Arts (Economics)Programme (CMAP)Since 1993, the Department of Economics (DOE) has been participating in the Collaborative Masters Programme (CMAP) for Anglo-phone African Countries managed by the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC). The CMAP curriculum was jointly developed by the participating universities under the stewardship of the AERC Academic Board.
This is a 24-months programme with two main components namely: the course-work (12 months) and independent research (maximum of 12 months).
Master of Arts in Economics – MA (Economics) Non-residentialThis programme is an 18-months programme that was introduced as a parallel programme to the regular MA (Economics). It is designed to cater for the needs of economists who need to obtain a post-graduate qualification but cannot be released from work by their employers for an extended period. The programme has an extended taught-course component organised on a modular basis using the same material and rigour as the MA (Economics), but it allows for adequate time between modules for students to do independent reading. Students take 6 courses (4 core and 2 elective), and submit a Thesis
