Emergency Passport Prices in Zimbabwe

A passport is an official document issued by a government, certifying the holder’s identity and citizenship and entitling them to travel under its protection to and from foreign countries.

Occasionally the government charges certain fees when one applies for a passport, birth certificate or National ID depending on circumstances. Below we have created a list of the current charges.

Issuance of Travel Documents

Documents Offered Are:

• Passport (Diplomatic, Service and Ordinary passport).

• Temporary Travel Documents (TTDs).

Requirements:

• All applications to be submitted and passports to be collected in person.

• Original documents and photocopies of the following to be produced:

• Long birth certificate.

• National Identity Card.

• Marriage Certificate/National Identity Card in married name/divorce order.

• Two color photographs (size 3.5 x 4.5cm).

• Citizenship certificate (for citizen by registration).

• Old passport/ Temporary Travel Document if any.

• For lost or stolen passport attach the police report.

Original documents will be returned to the owner while photocopies will be attached to the application.

• The father/mother or other legal guardian of children under 18 years must sign section 5 of the passport application form. Legal guardian’s “Documentary proof “ should be in a form of court order from the High Court or community in the case of divorced parents.

• Take note that loss of a passport should be immediately reported to the nearest police and passport office.

• Statutory fees paid on application:

·         Ordinary passport – US$50.

·         Executive passport (1 day) – US$315.

·         Urgent passport (3 working days) – US$250.

·         Temporary Travel Document – US$35.

·         Passport Application forms (P1 form) – US$3.

·         Ordinary passport old type – US$50.

·         Search fee – US$5.

·         Temporary Travel Document Form – US$3.

Passport Fees

  • Diaspora/External Passport US$318, this applies to a passport application made from outside Zimbabwe at various embassies
  • Ordinary Passport is the equivalent of US$60 (You get it when you get it, you might have to wait for years before this comes out)
  • 3 Days Emergency Passport is the equivalent of US$200.
  • 24-hour Emergency Passport US$318-you can apply for this in Zimbabwe too.

NB According to SI 201 of 2021 you have the option to pay in ZWL equivalent at the official rate if you are paying/applying from Zimbabwe.

e-Passport fees

  • None Emergency or Ordinary Passport application US$100.00
  • Emergency Passport US$200.00

NB:

  • While the government has been busy making confusing announcements ordinary citizens cannot yet apply for an e-passport according to information on the ground
  • Despite the “launch” late in 2021, e-passports have been launched before
  • e-passport comes with a chip like the one you see on chipped bank cards that looks like a SIM card. The chip has biometric information that can be verified electronically and is hard to alter
  • Ordinary none-chipped passports i.e the ones being issued and those in circulation will remain valid
  • Payments for e-passports will be made at CBZ and First Capital Banks as opposed to the actual passport office. Presumably to handle corruption at passport offices. The thing is the corrupt passport office officials will simply demand payment in cash if they wish for you to pay a bribe.

Birth Certificate Fees

  • First-time application e.g. a baby $0 ZWL, the birth certificate comes out on the same day
  • Corrections and alterations 5 days birth certificate $5 ZWL
  • Corrections and alterations/replacement 24 hours $10 ZWL

National ID

  • First-time application (16-18 years) $0 ZWL
  • First-time application 18+ years $2 ZWL

How long does an emergency passport take in Zimbabwe?

The embassy or consulate-general will ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for permission to issue an emergency travel document. This usually takes between 1 and 3 working days. If you have not attached a scan or photo of your lost or stolen passport or ID card, the waiting time may be longer.

How do I get an emergency passport in Zimbabwe?

However, to get an emergency document you’ll need to make a booking and the Passport Office is only starting that in March 2022.

Can I apply for a passport in Masvingo Zimbabwe?

INFORMATION FOR TRAVELLERS Zimbabwe passports is issued at the offices of the Chief Passport Officer. Submission of applications may be made at Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare, Masvingo, Bindura, Marondera, Chinhoyi, Gwanda and Lupane or any other place that may be so designated.
