DOCTOR OF PHARMACY (PHARM D)

The Doctor of Pharmacy is a six-year program run by the University. The first two years falls under the Pre-Professional Phase which prepares students for the last four years, the Professional Phase. During the first two years, students are introduced to hands-on participation in Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) during vacations to give them experience in the field. Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) form part of the curriculum for the last four years of their study as well. The program is accredited by the National Accreditation Board and is taught by very competent members of faculty in the field.

Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs)

The IPPEs, designed to take place during each vacation in the first four years of the programme. The IPPEs are aimed at complementing the didactic curriculum of the PHARM. D. Programme. The IPPEs allow students to have experiences in community, institutional and industry/regulatory/leadership settings.

Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs)

In the sixth and final year, students undertake the APPEs. The experiential component of the program includes eight (8) five-credit APPEs and two (2) electives. Electives may be selected from a variety of areas in Medicine, Regulatory Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences (Academia/Research). The subspecialties in medicine include areas such as Neurology, Oncology, Nephrology, Nutrition, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, etc. Rotations will be offered on a full-time basis, each lasting five weeks.
