Fashion and Design Institute FDI Courses Offered

The Fashion and Design Institute operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Industrial Development, SMEs and Cooperatives and its aim to promote excellence in the field of design education.

It was set up by Government to bring together the activities of 2 departments namely the School of Design of the Industrial and Vocational Training Board and the Textile and Apparel Development Centre of Enterprise Mauritius, with a view to rationalizing resources in this sector and fostering a uniform and a focused development of the fashion industry.

The Fashion and Design Institute was officially launched in September 2009.

The FDI is divided into three distinct operational departments.

  • Learning and Training
  • Corporate Affairs
  • Business/Industry Development, Research and Consultancy

BA (HONS) FASHION & TEXTILES DESIGN (TOP UP)

This course is intended for students wishing to pursue a career in the field of Fashion & Textiles.

Entry requirements
  • A pass in General Paper of the Higher School Certificate will be acceptable in lieu of English Language at O Level.
  • A pass at Subsidiary Level and/or A Level of the Higher School Certificate or equivalent will be acceptable in lieu of a pass at O Level as per above.
  • International students not fulfilling the above criteria must have either the international English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum test score of seven (7) for admission or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum test score of 550 for the paperbased test or a minimum test score of 79 for the internet-based test for admission.

Part Time : Rs4,900 (Semester1) and Rs4,800 (Semester3)

Registration Fees : Full Time Rs6,000 per year

Registration Fees : Part Time Rs3,000 per Semester

Deposit (Refundable): Rs4,000

Note

1. * Since January 2019, Government has come up with a policy measure providing free Higher Education to all MAURITIAN Students enrolled in a FIRST Certificate, FIRST Diploma or a FIRST Degree at Undergraduate level, whether on FULL-TIME or PART TIME Mode. This exemption will apply for payment of ALL tuition fees, ONLY Administrative fees and Registration fees will be paid by the students.
