Established in 2006, the Fatima College of Health Sciences (FCHS) aims to meet the United Arab Emirates’ growing need for skilled healthcare professionals. The college started by offering the BSc. in Nursing program in 2006 and has since then expanded to offer more than 10 degree programs at BSc.

GRD Courses

GRD courses fall under 4 of the 5 categories of the FCHS curriculum:

  4.  Major Core Requirements (MCR) {2 courses for Nursing}

A team of highly qualified teaching professionals works collaboratively in the holistic development of students. Student-centred teaching approaches that promote technology usage, demonstrations, discussions, etc., are always featured in the classroom.

Scope

General Education Requirements (GER)

The general education courses contribute to the student’s development while on the path of becoming a healthcare professional. The general education courses play an important role in improving students’ abilities to understand natural science concepts, use their critical thinking and quantitative skills, IT literacy and English language to accurately articulate their learning outcomes and mature as young adults.

College Core Requirements (CCR)

GRD offers mandatory courses that help students strengthen their basic knowledge in subjects that are required by all healthcare programs at FCHS.

College Elective Requirements (CER)

The department offers elective courses that have been crafted to supplement, extend and develop the student’s knowledge and understanding of their major courses. These electives are designed to broaden students’ perspectives, enhance their learning ability and enrich their interdisciplinary learning experiences.​

Undergraduate Programs

Nursing

Nurses graduating with a BSc in Nursing will provide holistic, nursing and practice to patients and their families. Contemporary nursing careers offer a wealth of opportunities to contribute to the health and well-being of society in primary, secondary and tertiary settings.

Pharmacy

The Bachelor of Pharmacy Program at Fatima College of Health Sciences (FCHS) is a five-year program offered at Al Ain and Abu Dhabi campuses. To earn the Bachelor of Pharmacy degree at FCHS, students need to complete a minimum of 166 hours of credit.

Courses offered in the later years of the programme integrate scientific and mathematical knowledge acquired in the initial years of the study. 

Physiotherapy

The Physiotherapy Department at Fatima College of Health Sciences is the first to offer an undergraduate physiotherapy program in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The professors and lecturers in physiotherapy are from different nationalities.

This diversity enriches the learning of physiotherapy science and research at FCHS. Physiotherapists are primary care professionals who work in a variety of settings, such as rehabilitation centres, hospitals, community health centres, and private clinics.

Radiography & Medical Imaging

A Radiographer & Radiologic Technologist, also known as Medical Imaging Specialist (MIS), performs imaging of the human body for diagnosis of medical problems. Radiographers work in hospitals, clinics, and private practice.

Although many graduates pursue a career in general radiography and computed tomography, opportunities exist to specialize in ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, mammography, management, research and in the industry as medical applications specialists.

Emergency Health (Paramedics)

Fatima College of Health Sciences offers a diverse and unique Paramedic program of study. As the UAE’s leading allied healthcare training institution you can be assured that you will receive the highest level of academic and practical training that will ensure each Paramedic student reaches their maximum potential.

Psychology

The Department of Psychology currently offers a BSc in Psychology that will provide students with a range of subject-specific and transferable skills and an in-depth knowledge of human behaviour and mental health that will help them pursue a career in a variety of fields as well as pursue graduate studies.
