Gwamile vocational and commercial training institute VOCTIM Overview
Gwamile Vocational and Commercial Training Institute is one of the principal institutes of higher learning in Swaziland. It was founded in 1987 under the auspices of the German Technical Cooperation Agency (GTZ) and the Swaziland Government. The campus is located in Kwaluseni, in the center of the country, two kilometers from the University of Swaziland. The school is known as Gwamile Voctim
INTRODUCTION
The institution is situated in the Matsapa area (in the central part of Swaziland) two kilometers from the University of Swaziland (Kwaluseni Campus).
GENERAL TRAINING AIMS
Gwamile VOCTIM’s mission is to produce qualified individuals with specific skills and competencies at various levels necessary to adequately meet the ever-changing technology.
The training at Gwamile VOCTIM prepares the trainee:
to design and maintain measurable and verifiable standards of practical skills excellency, to ensure that they remain competitive on labour market;
to enhance logical thinking and develop problem solving skill;
to develop desirable work habits, a sense of responsibility, and the ability to work co-operatively with others;
to promote a concern for personal and public safety and to observe good working practices;
to develop the ability to absorb, interpret and transmit information in spoken or written form, and to make a positive contribution at work;
to analyze, plan, conduct and evaluate work assignments;
to cope with changes in technology and be able to cope effectively with the demands of work;
to understand the impact of industry on the environment;
to develop the skills of self-employment.
OBJECTIVES
To enable Swaziland’s public and private sector establishments to recruit skilled craftsmen and clerical workers for the local labour market.
To provide secondary school leavers and other young unemployed people with a systematic training at craft level with a view towards self-employment.
