Banking and Finance
The rationale of this program is to offer a course that prepares business majors at a bachelor degree level who intend to pursue careers in Banking and Finance and progress their studies towards Masters and PhD degrees. We strategically have selected private sector and entrepreneurial business as the target hiring firms.
The banking thread of the program is less entrepreneurial in nature. I.e. we would expect entrepreneurs to be interested in the finance thread and those who wish to work for small to large entities; particularly banks, investment companies, mutual houses and lending institutions to be more interested in Banking. However, students are not bound by this preconception. For example, banking would be a worthwhile thread for an entrepreneur who intends to build a micro-lending company.
In either context they will be prepared to quickly learn and adapt to their chosen work.
All business graduates of HCC are expected to also be technology literate, know how to apply and manage technology and work with IT professionals.
All graduates of HCC are also expected to understand how to help their communities. The program provides several courses that help with students learn the values that should drive their actions and they have via the community development courses tools that will help them begin to contribute.

*The Mandatory Business Internship will be conducted during the prior summer months but grades reflected in this the final semester. The internship may be conducted as an entrepreneurial activity with department head approval (after acceptance by the HCC Incubator review team) when a student or group of students have developed a robust start up opportunity which can be explored in the HCC Incubator. Non-profit, NGO and community entity work will also be considered as valid options. The student should work with faculty during semester 4.1 to identify the approved assignment.
