Residents of Botswana are not allowed to drive or use foreign-registered vehicles in Botswana for more than fourteen days after the importation of such vehicles.
If you are intending to do so please contact your nearest customs office for advice. Should you be found in possession of a foreign registered vehicle severe penalties including seizure of vehicles may be imposed. Do remember to arrange insurance for your vehicle from the point it reaches either Port or from the moment your clearing agent transfers your car to you.

How is customs duty calculated in Botswana?
The import tax charged on a shipment will be 12% of the full value of your items. For example, if the declared value of your items is 100 USD, in order for the recipient to receive a package, an additional amount of 12.00 USD in taxes will be required to be paid to the destination country’s government.
Can foreigners drive in Botswana?
Holders of foreign driving licenses, who reside in Botswana, may use their foreign driving license for a maximum of 90 calendar days, after which point they must apply for the Botswana driving license.
