Botswana has increased the monthly allowance of students from $130 to $154. Batswana students in tertiary institutions are sponsored by the Government and given a monthly living allowance and book allowance. It has one of Africa’s highest tertiary institution enrollment rates.

STUDENT ALLOWANCE INCREASED TO P 1900
The Minister of Finance and Development Planning Peggy Serame has announced that student allowance will increase to P1900.
The increase will resume on the 1st of September 2022.
Initially students were getting P1620 for off campus and P1420 for on campus students.
