Zambia’s main airport is Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN), located 14km/9 mi from the capital, Lusaka. From Lusaka, you can fly or drive between reserves. If your safari is combined with a visit to Victoria Falls, you will most likely fly in or out of
Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport (LVI), just outside of Livingstone and close to the falls. In most cases, your local tour operator will arrange pickup from the airport and organize further transportation as part of your safari package.

Domestic Airlines & Flights in Zambia
Two domestic carriers run scheduled flights in Zambia. Proflight is well established, and the new Zambia Airways is offering limited flights as well.

Small charter flights are frequently used to travel between parks on safari. These are usually booked through your tour operator.
Passport, Visa & Other Entry Requirements
Entry requirements can change, so please contact your local Zambian embassy/high commission to verify that the information below is current.
- A passport is required for all foreign visitors and must be valid for at least six months.
- Passports must have at least three empty pages.
- Citizens of most countries can either obtain a visa upon arrival or don’t need one. A list of countries whose residents can get a visa upon arrival and a list of countries whose residents don’t need a visa is available from Zambia’s Department of Immigration.
- When arriving from a yellow-fever-infected country, a yellow-fever vaccination certificate is required.

U.S. Passport holders do not require a visa to visit Zambia. You must carry the original or a certified copy of your passport and immigration permit at all times
