Applications

1. All applications (national and international) to undergraduate programmes are made using the downloadable application form.

2. Complete the application form and submit along with certified certificates* and a copy of your passport to apply@ilma.edu.gh

3. You will receive an email confirmation of your application. If you have NOT received one within a week, PLEASE contact us.

4. You will receive a letter stating if you have been offered a place or not.

5. You can accept the offer by paying the non-refundable fees which is a percentage of your tuition fee and will be deducted from the first year’s tuition fee payment.

6. Once payment is received you can enroll.

Those who have not received their certificates due to the exam period may submit when received. If that is the case, please submit a signed and stamped letter from the school indicating when the certificate will be issued.

The B.Sc. in Information Technology programme is a four-year programme. The aim of this programme is to produce graduates who are adaptive to the needs of the changing world and are equipped with the knowledge and skills to design, implement, test, analyse, troubleshoot and leverage ICT to solve institutional and organizational problems. Some of the objectives of the programme are to produce graduates who will demonstrate an understanding of databases management systems, networking and security issues.

Train students to acquire knowledge and skills in the theory and principles of programming, software development and maintenance. Demonstrate high level expertise in the use of computer hardware and software systems. Develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills and technical knowledge required for an IT professional to assess and develop computer-based solutions. As well as pursue higher degrees in Information Technology and related areas.

Graduates from this programme will be in great demand in the information technology industry and their affiliates, as evidenced by the strong job market and high salaries. The IT industry offers a wide range of employment opportunities for Infrastructure Management and Services students after graduation. The B.Sc. award will be issued by the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) which is the affiliate of ILMA Institute of Science & Technology (IIST).

GHANAIAN STUDENTS

Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)

Credit (C6) in three (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies) and any three (3) elective subjects.

West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)

Grade C6 or better in three (3) core subjects (English Language, Mathematics (Core), Integrated Science or Social Studies) and three (3) elective subjects in the sciences and general arts.

General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level

Passes in three (3) subjects (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have had credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects including English, Mathematics and a Science subjects (for non-science students) and an Arts subject for Science students.

Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE)

Passes in three (3) subjects (at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better). Also, the applicant must have had credit passes in five (5) subject including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE)

Transfer Applicants

Entry is normally into Year 1 of the programme. Students, who satisfy the requirements of other full-time degree programmes in tertiary institutions in Ghana, may be admitted into Year 2 subject to meeting the equivalent Year 1 requirement of this programme upon verification and approval by UMaT.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Applicants must have relevant qualifications equivalent to what is required of Ghanaian students for admission to undergraduate studies. All applicants are expected to submit certified true copies of certificates of courses or examinations mentioned in the application process. The certificates must be recognised by the National Accreditation Board.

GHANAIAN & INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Mature Students’ Entry

The applicant must: 1. Be at least 25 years old at the time of submitting the application. 2. Show proof of age with baptismal certificate, birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of birth date, which is at least 5 years old at the time of application. 3. Provide introductory letter from employer or show other proof of employment; 4. Pass Entrance Examination conducted jointly by Mentor Institution and the institution itself (English Language, Mathematics and an Aptitude Test). In lieu of such examinations, the applicant should show proof of credit passes in English and Mathematics in WASSCE or any other nationally recognized standard High School level examinations (for qualifications from countries outside WAEC’s aegis).
