LCE Diploma in Education (Primary) – Dip.Ed.Pri.

LCE Diploma in Education (Primary) – Dip.Ed.Pri.

Primary education is of key importance both for the development of the individual and for national socio-economic progress.  This programme seeks to provide a solid foundation for teachers at this level, enabling them to assist in all aspects of a child’s development; intellectual, social, moral, aesthetic and physical.
The programme is designed both for students without previous teaching experience who wish to teach in primary schools and for those who do have such experience but are unqualified or hold a qualification below the diploma level.  For most full-time students enrolled, this is a pre-service programme of three years’ duration.  But the revised content of this programme is also being used by the in-service Distance Teacher Education Programme (DTEP) of the College, which is of four years’ duration.  DTEP is designed mainly for unqualified and under-qualified, serving primary school teachers and prepares them for the same diploma as that awarded to full-time students.  Admission whether for full-time or  part time training, is open to citizens of Lesotho as well as those of other countries.
