LCE Diploma in Education (Secondary) – Dip.Ed.Sec

LCE Diploma in Education (Secondary) – Dip.Ed.Sec

Secondary education serves two major purposes for the benefit of individuals and of society.  Firstly, it supports the development of children through their adolescence and, secondly, it prepares them to meet the challenges of the workplace, of occupational training and of tertiary education.  This programme therefore seeks to prepare teachers who are both professionally committed and also competent to teach two of the subjects offered in secondary and high schools.
The programme is designed both for students without previous teaching experience who wish to teach in high schools and for those who do have such experience but are unqualified or hold a qualification below the diploma level. This is a pre-service  full time programme of three years’ duration.   Admission to the programme is open to citizens of Lesotho as well as those of other countries.
This revised programme incorporates teacher education for Technology Studies as well as the other subjects offered at the secondary level.  It represents a merging of the Diploma in Education Secondary (Dip.Ed.Sec) and the Diploma in Technology Education (Dip.Tech.Ed) programmes in the interest of efficiency and parity of status.
