Lesotho School Of Medicine Admission Criteria

Admission Criteria:

Students shall be admitted following advertisement for a period of at least 2 months in the national press. Applicants shall be evaluated for eligibility by the admissions committee and eligible candidates shall be invited for interview and final selection. Eligibility shall be based on the following criteria:

1. Bachelor of Science in Biology & Chemistry, Pharmacology, Biotechnology or Education
  • At least 2nd Class, 2nd Division.
  • At least a D in Calculus, Biochemistry and Organic Chemistry with minimal supplemented or repeated courses.
  • Exceptions are made for students who have shown considerable academic improvement or dedication to the health field through work experience.
2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing & Midwifery
  • At least 2nd Class, 2nd Division.
  • At least a D in Anatomy, General Biochemistry, Calculus, Statistics, Pharmacology and Pathophysiology with minimal supplemented or repeated courses.
  • Exceptions are made for students who have shown considerable academic improvement or dedication to the health field through work experience.
3. Incomplete Bachelor of Science in any of the above courses:
  • At least 2nd Class, 2nd Division.
  • Must have completed at least two years of study with at least a D in Calculus, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry with minimal supplemented or repeated courses.
  • Exceptions are made for students who have shown considerable academic improvement or dedication to the health field through work experience.
4. International Baccalaureate in Biology & Chemistry
  • Total score of 30 and greater.
  • Exceptions are made for students who have shown considerable academic ability in Calculus, Biochemistry and Organic Chemistry sciences or dedication to the health field through work experience
