After spending a number of years without recruiting soldiers, the Malawi Defence Force training department has disclosed that it will soon conduct a recruitment exercise for new soldiers in the country ie there will be Malawi Defence force Recruitment 2021 as disclosed by through Malawi Defence force latest news.
Speaking in Lilongwe at Kamuzu Barracks, MDF Commander Griffin Supuni Phiri disclosed that all resources are ready for the Malawi Defence for training of new Malawi Defence Force officers.
“As you know that it took years without recruiting soldiers, MDF will soon do the exercise,” Phiri said.
However, Phiri did not disclose the exact dates when the recruitment exercise will be conducted.
Last year social media was rocked by speculations claiming that the Malawi Defence Force was inviting people to join the military.
Malawi Defence Force latest news refuted the claims saying that it did not have plans of conducting the recruitment exercise at that time.
Eligible applicant should:
- Be a Malawian citizen by birth.
- Be of good character.
- Be not more than 35 years for Specialist/Doctors and not more than 32 years for Nurses and Paramedical personnel.
- Be medically fit by Malawi Defence Force standard.
- Be not bonded.
- Be of minimum height of 1.68m (5` 6“) for males and 1.57m (5` 2“) for females.
- Must have the following:
(1) PSLCE. Must have six (6) Passes at PSLCE including English and Mathematics.
(2) Six credits. (Not less than C6) including Core English, Core Mathematics and Core Science at MSCE.
(3) Six credits. (Not less than D) including Core English, Core Mathematics and Core Science at MSCE.
Or
(4) Five credits. (Not less than 6) including English, Mathematics and Science at GCE ‘O’ Level and not less than D in three subjects at GCE ‘A’ Level.

Eligible applicant must:
a. Be a Malawian citizen by birth.
b. Be of good character.
c. Be not less than 18 years of age and not more than 25 years for Non – Tradesmen and not more than 27 years for Tradesmen by 1 September 2017.
d. Be medically fit by Armed Forces standards.
e. Be not married.
f. Be not bonded.
g. Be of minimum height of 1.68m (5’6”) for males and 1.57m (5’2”) for females. For Military Police only; be of a minimum height of 1.75m (5’9”) for males and 1.70m (5’7”) for females.
h. Have six (6) Credits (not less than Grade 6)at PSLCE including English and Mathematics
