Job Description

The Malawi Defence Force (MDF) is a government Institution which is charged with the Defence and Maintenance of order in Malawi with such other duties assigned as are in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi. It is comprised of the Army (Land Forces), Maritime Forces and Airforce.

The organisation will conduct recruitment exercise for suitably qualified Malawian young men and women wishing to pursue a career in the MDF as regular soldiers.

2. The exercise shall be conducted in four (4) Centres: (Northern, Central, Southern and Eastern) and Successful candidates shall undergo an intensive Six Months basic military Training at Malawi Armed Forces College (MAFCO) in Salima.

3. The following are the requirements:

  1. Must be a Malawian without criminal record.
  2. Must be not less than 165 cm tall for men and 158 cm tall for women.
  3. Must be prepared to undergo intensive medical examinations.
  4. Must be physically, mentally and medically fit.
  5. Must be prepared to undergo an intensive basic military training.
  6. Must be between 18 to 24 years of age.
  7. Must be single and without children.
  8. Must have a minimum qualification of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or above. Those with special skills will have an added advantage.
  9. Must be of high integrity.

4. Application letters indicating District of Origin in own handwriting with clear photocopied certificates of education qualifications should be sent to the Military Cantonment nearest applicants District of Origin by post as follows:

5. Deadline for receiving applications is on 10th June 2020.

Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews.
